I showed my oldest daughter a comparison between Obama and Hitler and Hitler the other day showing her the risk that a nation runs when people are swept up in propaganda. And, although Hitler was a bit more “forceful” in his presentation, the whole attitude and appearance of the followers are quite the same. They are looking for someone to “save us”, to “inspire hope”, looking for “change”, “peace” and “utopia”. These are exactly the same kind of promises Hitler made.
The only thing that is different is that Barak purports to want to include “all” in his utopian vision for America. However, when one examines his positions this quickly falls apart. But, then, his followers - especially those “disaffected youths” - aren’t exactly looking at this rationally or critically. They are so warped due to listening to the left’s rhetoric for the last few years that the words they hear are good enough for them to “believe”.
Heh heh... there should only be one “and Hitler” in the first sentence! Almost time for bed!

The U.S. today is a very prosperous nation - most of us live like kings. There’s no basis or need for change.

I completely agree! I wasn’t sure how to articulate that though... The reason so many liberals are convinced we need such a drastic change is due to the propaganda that they, with help from the MSM, have been spewing ever since the beginning of the Iraq war.

Every time I hear him speak I hear things that should not be coming out of the mouth of someone with a clue. It causes me great concern, until I realize the founding fathers faced the same mix of folks who were for the King, sitting on the fence, or those who valued freedom more than either.
Back in the day, the printing press was the MSM, and they got pretty much what we have today, both sides of a one sided issue. I’m sure none of them had much confidence that the war was going to be successful, for the lonely signers of the Declaration of Independence, whose necks were all laid out on the chopping block.
What we have today, may in many respects far surpass the dream the founders had of freedom and liberty, and OTOH were they to return for a report of how we have handled their gift, many of them might not recognize what remains. It is what it is, we won’t be returning to those days or the men we revere for their willingness to sacrifice everything for the dream of that which only the Creator can grant.
Perhaps it is enough to know that despite, his political and personal leanings, Senator McCain has served his country, in peace and war, and his love and concern for the country cannot be questioned. Despite the mavricity, and crap he dishes out. Sort of like how we knew what the political and personal leanings of President Bush were, but were hoping for something more.
There is more to overlook than their is to grasp onto. The choices for President are few, but equally as important as the outcome of previous elections. Maybe even more so, as it appears the direction of our policies for energy, immigration, financial security, and National Security, are about as up in the air as I can remember.
Now if only the next few months will separate the two contenders so that there is no doubt in the mind of Joe or Jane Six pack who he or she must vote for to preserve even a semblance of what remains from the founders dream, I ought to be happy. Perfection it will not be, just a semblance, and then it is up to us for the next four years again.

You have other tens of millions on the dole who will vote for him regardless of position because he promises to keep pilfering the public largess for them.
Still othes of millions will vote for him simply because he is black.
Other millions will vote for him because they know exactly who he is and what he represents and agree with his anti-American positions.
The first three are all what is termed, useful idiots, a term coined by Lenin for the dupes he got to support him.
Against this it is left to us to educate, arouse, and amass the tens of millions of Americans who understand and hold fast to the foundational principles our constitutional republic rests upon...many of them the bitter, rural Americans clinging to their guns and religion that Obama so arrogantly spoke of.

for the first time in my life, will be a “no” vote against Obama.
I understand completely. I am moved to wax vocal on the makeup of the voting populace which for the first 150 years or so of the Nation’s history, generally reflected the desires of the Founding Fathers, but in the interest of climate change otherwise known as Global Warming, I will invoke the self censor clause.
He might have turned his face from America as a nation because of our collective sin, even while He continues to care for individuals. At this point I don’t see how we can salvage ourselves; we are sliding downhill, inexorably, gathering inertia as we go. No different from Rome, really. Miracles are always possible, but it doesn’t look good over the long run.
The song “Tomorrow Belongs to me” always creeps me out..every time I listen to it the hair stands up on the back of my neck.
I like the musical “Caberet”, and there are a lot of parallels between what is going on now and back before WWII in Germany. Now I’m not saying we’ll end up like Nazi Germany, but it’s amazing how many people are swept up in Obama’s spell.
But if you look at a lot of American society these days so many things in the media, hollywood, music are designed to entertain and cater to people. A lot of people I think (sadly) expect to be catered and pandered to.
It reminds of the lyric from Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit” where Cobain sings “Here we are now, entertain us!”
Media creates the problem, some empty-suit politician gets ginned up to be the new pied-piper. It’s very scary sometimes.

I was raised in a small farming/ranching community in Wyoming in the 1950/60’s. My dad was a farm equipment dealer where the majority of the local farmers/ranchers congregated to discuss the workings of the nation. My dad provided an area with chairs, a couch, a coffee pot, cigarette machine, “Coke” machine, and on Friday donuts from the local bakery.
I learned much from just being a fly on the wall there and listening to the talk from men who had survived the great depression, WWII, and Korea. Most conversations were political as they all knew what the price of wheat, beans, sugar beets, sheep and cattle were, so they did not discuss them. The first conversations I can remember with clarity were about JFK and Nixon. I think there was only one JFK supporter in the county at that time. Even though JFK was using his WWII service in his campaign, many saw him considering himself to be above the common folk who were working long hours to make this nation great.
I often wonder what the conversations there would be like now. These MEN held heroes in high regard not only for what they had done for the country, but for what they brought back with them to the local community in maturity and experience.
Obama is the biggest threat to the nation since Pearl Harbor and should be dealt with swiftly next November.
