Whoa. I was thinking he didn’t look that good in one particular video a couple weeks ago. I didn’t say anything because I thought it was bad lighting or something.

Prayers for his family and friends.

I asked this question in the other thread, but it’s now closed. Did the building have an AED? I ask this only because it’s becoming more and more common for places with a large number of people to have them. They don’t always work, but they’re far more effective in terms of survival than just CPR and waiting for an ambulance.

Re the flight from Italy,

That, unfortunately, may give us a clue as to why this happened to such a young man. Sitting on long flights can lead to blood clots in the legs.

I'd bet you're probably right. Shades of David Bloom.

Russert was recording voiceovers for Sunday’s “Meet the Press” program when he collapsed, the network said. He and his family had recently returned from Italy, where they celebrated the graduation of Russert’s son, Luke, from Boston College.

RIP Mr. Russert

“So live that when thy summons comes to join
The innumerable caravan that moves
To that mysterious realm, where each shall take
His chamber in the silent halls of death,
Thou go not, like the quarry-slave at night,
Scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave,
Like one who wraps the drapery of his couch
About him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.”

All that aside, God Bless his family in this terrible time. RIP Tim Russert.

Tim was 58, overweight and diabetic. Rush is 57,overweight, a smoker and by his own admission hates exercise. Prayers for the Russert family. But I will also pray to God to protect Rush and keep him in good health for a loooong time.

Rush, please, please, please, get regular checks up done. Given your lifestyle that's the least you could do for yourself and for us. God bless.

God Bless his soul, and condolences to his family and friends.

He seemed to be one of those ‘high blood pressure’ types.

Whether anyone consider his contributions to the media, to our world, positive, or negative, at least he will be remembered.

Which is more than many can say.

If I ‘drank’, I’d pop one open in his honor, at least he’s out of the rat race.

Good Luck, wherever you are, Tim!

Oh man, this is horrible. One of the few MSM types I had respect for, and it was a deep respect because he could be a nightmare interviewer for any purveyor of Washington bullcrap.

I know some of the pain this family is feeling. My uncle suffered a massive heart attack at the age of 54 on Sunday, and died from injuries in a car accident that resulted from it. My aunt was also badly injured, with 12 broken ribs and internal damage. Fortunately, she is trying her best to fight on.

After hearing him say "The role of the press is to hold this administraion accountable" a couple years ago, I personally lost all respect for a man I once thought of as about the only objective journalist left.

Keith Olberman will no doubt come on MSNBC tonight in contrived sackcloth and ashes, and gin up some way to blame Bush.

Tim Russert-— Overweight overworked, he was just working too hard, he was addicted to politics

He just got back from a quick vacation from Italy. My guess is some feasting in Italy pushed his underlying condition into the red zone and killed him. What a shame. He was fairly honest and straight forward

Yeah, same here. I think he was an essentially fair guy. This is probably good news to Keith Olbermann. Russert, who was 10,000 times the man as Olbermann, was onto this monumental fraud. Olbermann is the vilest idiot on TV today.

I haven’t watched Mr. Russert in quite some time, due to my dislike for his “reportage”. But this is a shock and is very sad. He was well loved and respected across the journalistic community, and I’m certain his son and wife are devastated. May he rest in peace.

We can only hope that NBC doesn't replace him with David Gregory or Keith Olbermann as their next Washington bureau chief. It would be better to bring back Tom Brokaw, at least temporarily.

Hillary’s revenge. She executed her payback for him asking that question about the (then) New York governor’s (what was his name again?) law for drivers licenses for illegals.

Russert’s question at that first debate — and Hillary’s horrible answer — started her slide into defeat. Rush asked that question of his radio audience before Russert asked it of Hillary, so Rush likes to take credit for it. Therefore, Rush — look out! Hillary’s on the warpath!

Survivors include Russert’s wife, Maureen Orth, a writer for Vanity Fair magazine, whom he met at the 1976 Democratic National Convention; and their son, Luke.

Tom Brokaw gave MSNBC viewers the news at 3:40 p.m. “He worked to the point of exhaustion so many weeks,” Brokaw said, adding: “This news division will not be the same without his strong, clear voice.”

There were times when Russert approached fair and balanced.

I thought that he was always able to ask the hard question, no matter what political stripe the person he was asking it was. He was a good American. From South Buffalo and I know something about those kinds of people from there. Mainly Irish-American and Catholic. I live in Buffalo and have had many a "discussion" with the boys, all dems of course, but great God-fearing Americans every one. Tim was one of them.

Tim Russert is a liberal, and is biased towards Democrats. But if the rest of the MSM were as relatively fair as he, we would have a lot less bias to complain about.

MR. RUSSERT: Thirty years later, you stand by that?

This is pretty sharp questioning. We know that Russert tends to take it easy on Democrats in general, and Senator Clinton in particular. However, being interviewed by Russert is certainly no picnic for a Democrat.

Russert is the proof that media bias exists. If someone is relatively evenhanded, we can recognize it. The rest of the media, by and large, is far easier on Democrats, and aggressive towards Republicans.

There seems to be a big influx of troll-like posters who are on a campaign to destroy F.R. by starting fights, making personal attacks, ruining all debate, discussion, and throwing any kind of courtesy out the window.

Or maybe the whole world has gone to Hell, and being addicts and long time freepers, our hell is having F.R. turned into a cesspool like DU.

Or maybe it’s because it’s Friday the 13th.
