A Brooklyn gang used a scam on craigslist.com to shake down New Yorkers with the lure of discounted iPhones, police said yesterday.

The scheme - which netted thousands of dollars from as many as 12 victims from all five boroughs finally came undone Wednesday night, when cops set up a sting on a Flatlands street corner and arrested four suspects.

I don't know who's more stupid. People showing up in shady neighborhoods with thousands in cash and hopes for a "deal".

Or these crooks repeating the same crime over and over like they weren't going to get caught.

I don't know who's more stupid.

I choose the crooks. Leaving up the craiglist ad on the Internet to hook in another victim is pretty stupid...

great scam... once, twice, maybe even three times, but after that you are a fugitive from the law of averages of getting caught.

you can only got the well so many times.

It’s a repeating pattern in the annals of crime. So many times a successful criminal -— drug dealer, bank robber, slot machine thief -— makes a lot of money and they think it can go on for ever. It never goes on forever. Don’t these people watch true crime stories on TV?
