Stories: Talkin' 'Bout Our Generation (McCain vs. Obama in Florida)
Financial Times ^ | June 14, 2008 | Larry Salter

... Florida, set in the deepest south but not entirely of it, highlights a different divide - one that might prove more important to the presidential poll this autumn. Here, the McCain-Obama battle is one between American generations, the war vet versus the enigma who looks at least a decade younger than his 46 years. The surprise of this contest is that, with Hillary Clinton out of the race, that much-discussed demographic, the baby boomer generation, has been cut out of the race. Obama is surfing a different demographic wave - Morley Winograd and Michael Hais, authors of Millennial Makeover, point out that by 2010, the so-called millennial generation (born since 1982) will outnumber the baby boomers born in the years after the second world war.

They also note that roughly 40 per cent of this millennial generation is African-American, Latino, Asian or racially mixed. One in five "millennials" has an immigrant parent. And Miami is the epicentre of multicultural America. The "city of the future" (self-dubbed) often looks and feels more like Bangkok or Bogota than like any of its US counterparts. This is the new Ellis Island, the principal landfall for would-be Americans. It should be fertile territory for a genuinely multicultural candidate...

genuinely multicultural candidate...

Whatever that may be. But it doesn't matter, because Obama is a black-only candidate, chosen because he is from the Dem party's most loyal voting block. He's not even from American black background, but the child of an African Muslim (who is almost assuredly part Arab, according to what one can find out about his past), and he's not even all black - but this is the demographic he's going for. Well, of course, along with white liberals.

I think a lot of people who come to the US because they actually like our ideals, want to get ahead, want to be educated and want to prosper on their merits, are not going to be particularly interested in becoming part of the Great Black Grievance campaign.

What an election this is. Neither candidate is qualified to be President, both are Socialists, and both will destroy our country.

It will be everyone for themselves shortly.

Both are socialists. Both of them stink. But Florida still isn’t going to be close.

The writer of this article forgot to check BO’s birthday. He was born in August of 1961 which makes him a Baby boomer just like me.

Several places in the Us could be the start of an American style Bloshevik revolution...Miami is maybe a better possibility than many...I received a report from Palm Beach, FL this am which should be read...social and governmental breakdown begins in FL...http://realestateandhousing2.blogspot.com/2008/06/mondays-with-morgan.html

This highlights the economic and social strain that may aid Obama. Question is will civil order in FL allow an orderly election? Question arises when Miami has recently considered Nation of Islam to patrol its suburban regions for order maintenance.

Many are angry at being cheated out of the peace dividend following the end of the cold war, believing that a new threat has been manufactured to maintain the voracious appetite of the oil-fuelled military-industrial complex - at the expense of jobs and healthcare. . . 'Socially, this is not a good country to live in,' he says. 'We are the one developed nation that lets its people die if they can't afford healthcare'. . . 'anybody who doesn't believe our government is mixed up in 9/11 is totally naive' . . . [people are] 'tired of old white men' . . .

Boy it just gets crazier and crazier... It really is -- tragically -- going to come to pass that we will get other 9/11-style hits before large numbers of Americans realize that there are people out there who hate American more than they do. The Rat liberal/leftist definition of patriotism: "I don't hate America as much as the people who want to kill us all hate America."

They even got a fancy name for flim-flam man, Obama's "adaptive" leadership style appeals to this younger generation. Adaptive leadership style, right here in River City.

I FOUND THE REASON TO VOTE FOR MCCAIN! LOOK: Michelle Sanchez yearns to live in Singapore, Matthew Yeasted feels his future may lie in Canada. Barack Obama would seem to offer [America] its best chance to modernise. If this opportunity isn't grasped, given the enthusiasm he's brought back to politics, disillusionment is on the horizon.

If the New Messiah loses all these hate-America pukes get the hell out of our mean, terrible, rotten Country! Go John!

..and finally the obligatory "Racists!" "Bigots!": "A lot of white people will never vote for a black man, and they tend to be older voters," says Christie Samoville.

Well let's see. The primaries I believe had about 60-65 percent of whites voting for whites and 90-92 percent of blacks voting for blacks. Nary a word about 'dem stats. O'Reilly did the same cute trick on his "no spin (Ha!)" radio show the other day.
