Along similar lines, can you imagine the howls of MSM outrage if John McCain were to suggest that he might "bring a gun" to his campaign against Barack Obama? Yet Obama has made just such a statement. Expect the liberal media to . . . yawn.

With respect, OF, my point was not to criticize Obama for having said it but to point out the media double-standard. Do you doubt that if McCain had said the same thing it would have become a big MSM cause celebre?

Day in and day out he watches the shows (conservative) Americans won’t so that we know what is and is not going on with the those who mold public perceptions, i.e., the mainstream media.

If he had the lead in every msm story would be. McCain gun comment cuts African Americans as deeply as the sight of a noose. We would never hear the end of it.
That street talk (in conjunction with street actions like the fist bump) is what gives rise to comments like “baby mama” that the Obama campaign seems so upset by. If they don’t want him to be percieved as a thug he needs to start acting like someone who is fit to hold the office to which he aspires.

Ed, that knife/gun comment has been around about as long as there have been guns. I seem to even remember it as a line in a song, though I don’t remember much more than that. Getting all hyped up over it is almost as bad as if he had said “sh!t” and believing he meant we all should do just that... immediately!
Obama is a very bad man. His presidency would be a disaster for Americans, liberal and conservative alike. We need to hold his feet to the fire when he says or does something wrong, but to get upset over small, silly stuff only serves to deplete our energies.
