Washington, D.C. - A national campaign is underway to educate parents about the graphic contents of many of the sex-ed programs currently in use in U.S. schools and then empower to bring about change. The campaign, called Parents for Truth, is being organized by the National Abstinence Education Association (NAEA), a Washington-based advocacy group that seeks to enroll 1 million parents within the next three years. "Parents are being told that the content of the curricula in their children's classrooms stress abstinence but include information to make decisions in case they become sexually active," said Valerie Huber, NAEA executive director. "But what most of these programs really provide is explicit how-to information that give teens a green light for activities that put them at risk."
For instance, several programs recently reviewed by the Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families (ACF) encouraged teens to engage in safer sex" practices. One program targeting 10- to 14-year-olds gave detailed information about how to obtain an abortion and reassured children that they don't have to tell their parents if they visit a clinic or get an abortion. The problem is that most parents don't know what's actually in these programs, Ms. Huber said, but when they find out, the overwhelming majority disapproves.
Most polls say parents want comprehensive sex ed taught to their children, but, according to Ms. Huber, this is only because of how the surveys are worded. Her organization commissioned Zogby International to conduct a poll last year, but this survey included actual information from the contents of both abstinence and comprehensive sex ed programs. "By the end of the poll, parents, regardless of ideology, political party, geographic location, etc. favored abstinence ed over comprehensive sex ed by a two-to-one margin," she said. "Based on this information, we decided that parents are being misled. They're being told one thing, but when they actually look at what's being taught, they see it's something very different."
The campaign is kicking off just as Congress is debating whether to authorize $190 million in federal funding for abstinence programs. Critics say the programs are ineffective, but according to the ACF study, comprehensive sex ed programs aren't much better. According to their report, many of the programs they reviewed contained "medical inaccuracies and none of them had any impact on delaying sexual debut in children." But critics insist on blaming the few abstinence ed programs for these dismal results. "As the mother of two teenagers, I want my kids to be taught about abstinence, but I also know that that's not enough," said Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, which is a major provider of comprehensive sex ed programs.
"Teens look to us for information about preventing disease and unintended pregnancy, yet our government spends $1 billion on abstinence-only programs to teach our teens that condoms don't work. Is it any surprise that nearly 4 million teens develop sexually transmitted infections each year, when we don't equip them with even the most basic information about how to protect themselves?" However, many long-time chastity educators say this is the wrong attitude, that teens are more than willing to be challenged to take the higher moral ground and remain chaste when the opportunity is presented to them.
"The problem is that too many teens today don't know what that moral high ground is because they're not hearing it from the adults in their lives," said internationally known chastity educator and Horsham resident Molly Kelly, who has worked with teens for 25 years. "Our teens today are being bombarded by wrong messages and too often they're hearing them from adults," Ms. Kelly said. "Parents need to safeguard the purity of their children by monitoring what movies and music their teens are listening to, what clothes they're wearing and what they're being taught in school about human sexuality." "Teens look to us for information about preventing disease and unintended pregnancy, yet our government spends $1 billion on abstinence-only programs to teach our teens that condoms don't work.Abstinence education does not teach "condoms don't work". . abstinence education gives REAL data on the failure-rate of condom use. . .it is real data verses the brainwashing of youth with MYTHS about condom effectiveness. Public school sex education of the Planned Parenthood variety is a criminal assault on the well-being of America's children. . .that's the truth!

If these parents think they can change anything then they are STUPID! STUPID! STUPID! PARENTS! ( Yes, I am shouting!)
The Marxist-Communists are in complete control of the government schools! They can NOT be reformed!
Get your children out. Immediately!
Encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to get their kids out.
Join with others to elect representatives who will SHUT DOWN the Marxist government indoctrination camps. ( Mis-named “schools”.)

Blah, blah, blah. If we can vote for representatives that might shut down schools, we can vote for school board representatives that FORCE the districts to get rid of what is unacceptable. Got another straw man?

Trying to reform the government schools is like playing the “Whack a Mole” game.
