This only makes me like Jindal more. Leftwebbers can go stuff it.
yes, I agree but I feel the immediate urgency. Things are getting worse at a faster pace. Louisiana will understand - it’s for the good of the country! It’s pitiful we don’t have an over abundance of good men in office who won’t comprise their values for the PC/evil crowd. PC wasn’t prevalent in the Reagan era. Now it’s rampant.
Baton Rouge, we have a problem....
As some of you know, the Louisiana Legislature has voted itself a 100% salary increase (down from 200% as originally considered). Although Jindal is against the bill in question, he has stated that he will not veto it, even when the state’s voters are strongly opposed to the increase. Bad move, Governor!
Frankly, I think most voters would be happy to elect someone to Washington who knows how to conduct a good exorcism!
I got news for people: Baptisms are exorcisms.
What’s your take on it? He didn’t veto it because he has to work w/these guys and needs their cooperation?
Oh yes! Moreso, since they only have 20% or so approval rating. Hey, they will thank him in the morning!
bttt
It might be that Jindal wants to be in good terms with the legislators, but does it have to take practically a bribe to accomplish that? There’s nothing principled (and a lot counterproductive) about that.
My take on it is that, by his not vetoing the bill, the Governor may be allowing the legislators who supported the raise to bury themselves come re-election while he himself will not be adversely affected, or at least that is the gamble he is making. But then, the buck stops at the Governor’s desk, and Jindal’s refusal to veto may cost him politically after all, especially if he contemplates national office someday. What about cutting on government waste as an honored tenet of the conservatism he claims to embrace?
I agree. No compromise. He may think it will cost him now; but in the end, it always costs more.
