Dobbs Blames 'Moronic' Salmonella Response on President Bush and 'His FDA'
businessandmedia.org ^ | June 17, 2008 | Kelly Brown

Posted on 06/17/2008 10:06:20 AM PDT by Saint X

Searching high and low for someone to blame for contaminated tomatoes, CNN’s Lou Dobbs tried: imported produce; a “moronic” Food and Drug Administration; and finally, President George W. Bush.

In the June 16 edition of “Lou Dobbs Tonight,” Dobbs slammed the FDA and the president for not controlling the salmonella outbreak.

After claiming that the FDA is “led by complete moronic, unengaged incompetents” and calling them “idiots,” Dobbs proceeded to link the spread of salmonella to Bush. “As for this administration, were a responsible president at the helm of this country, I would wonder why he is not taking action, but then again, this is of course his FDA and his legacy.”

I am sure that President Bush is eating as many tomatoes as he can to keep them from other people.

What an idiot this Dobbs is!

Note that supposedly “conservative” network hosts spend most of their time bashing Republicans and their leadership.

This is the network idea of “balanced reporting”.

No, Clinton opened the door for NAFTA, and Bush signed CAFTA so we can grow food with slave labor in countries south of us. The margin on a cucumber goes from 2 cents to 4 cents, so it is worth it for corporations to move their production to non-minimum wage/non-union type situations.

Including the costs of shipping still make margins better when you pay 25% of the cost of labor from the US.

These poor people with BDS lost God somewhere, and are desperately searching for someone to “look over everything”, knowing in their hearts that someone is indeed in charge, if only they could remember who.

So if a sparrow falls, it's Bush's fault.

Note to the perennially constipated Lou Dobbs:

Why not try WASHING your tomatoes every time you eat them. There is a reason why Europeans thought they were poisonous when they first encountered tomatoes in the new world.

Correct me if I’m wrong; but didn’t industry want to irradiate produce to prevent this from happening. Wasn’t it the liberal do gooders who shot that plan down. I think the word irradiate scared them.

Ever watched harvesting on TV?
Wide open fields with crews of people harvesting tomatoes etc.
How many sanitary stations did you notice?
This means when it comes to basic human needs, such needs are performed on the spot.
Toilet paper is at hand? Hand washing takes place?
Keep this in mind and wash your fruit tomatoes, grapes, apples, etc. thoroughly before eating and you are reasonably safe.

I’m to the point where I give everything an ‘instant hot’ bath before I ingest.

This appliance was meant to give me a quick cup of hot water for tea or instant coffee.

Now it is used for every single piece of raw fruit or vegetable BEFORE we eating. That includes strawberries, blueberries, etc. EVERYTHING.

Why not try WASHING your tomatoes every time you eat them.

Why doesn't this obvious answer get more air time? I mean, come on, a farm is not the cleanest place in world, then there's the people that handle the vegetables.

And how 'bout all those people in the markets fondling the food?

If Salmonella was all people got, they should be thankful.

oh, how 'bout people that eat raw, unwashed mushrooms? (and not the entertaining kind...)

The subtext for Dobbs remarks is that most tomatoes at this time of year come from Florida or Mexico. Florida has given complete cooperation of inspections of the growers, growing areas, and shipping facilities. Surprise, surprise, Mexico has not. If bad food which endangers the health of American consumers comes from the United States then we can expect some things will be done, if we are invaded by illegals or tainted tomatoes endangering Americans, then this GUBMINT whether headed by Jorge Bush or whoever will obfuscate, drag their feet, and give Mexico a pass. Dobbs is upset that China and Mexico get away with endangering consumers in ways producers and companies in this country could never get away, listen to Dobbs carefully, he clearly indicates that it is a GUBMINT problem not a political party problem. Personally, I believe that Dobbs is essentially a Democrat who is opposed to the ILLEGAL invasion of this country, and the pandering to Communist Red China. If he wants to blame everything wrong with the GUBMINT which is a lot, on Jorge Bush, then I cannot be too critical. You will not find the reporting on the ILLEGAL invasion given on Dobbs program on any other cable news network.

My mother taught me from an early age to wash all vegetables, and that the closer to the ground they are grown, the more likely they are contaminated. I remember as six year old she caught me trying to cut the potatoes before washing them and she became livid.

Strange, I see no constitutional requirement for the President to control salmonella. This is typical communist playbook. Government is responsible for everything and if the Pres doesn’t do something then elect a left wing asshat that will control every aspect of your life. What an idiot, and what idiots some Americans have become.

One can dip tomatoes into boiling water until their skin peels right off. Everyone should wash EVERYTHING they buy these days - no telling where it’s from or what peed on it.

Why not try WASHING your tomatoes every time you eat them.

(Learned this while listening to the radio the other day.)

The salmonella comes from contaminated manure fertilzer. Tomatoes with the vine still on are safe but tomatoes without the vine still on are not safe. Washing the tomatos without a vine still on will not make them safe.

Why?

Because tomatoes with the vine still on have intact physical defenses for the meat inside. Tomatoes without the vine on have a "vine scar" that allows water to seep into the tomato. At the plant, when tomatoes are washed in tubs, the water gets contaminated and can then seep into the tomatoes thereby contaminating the inside of the tomato with salmonella. Therefore, washing the tomato without the vine still on at home will not protect you from the salmonella.

Find it odd the supposed “conservatives” worship a socialist like Dobbs. His every solution is to scream hysterically for a massive increase in the powers of the Fed Govt.

Note to baby boomer whiners and shrill media hysterics like Dobbs. NO amount of Govt can protect you from life. No matter how many trillions you spend and how much new Govt you set up, Life is dangerous and this sort of stuff happens. Learn to deal with it.

Gasp, they have food poisoning in your wonderful socialist utopia of Europe from time to time too Lou. Guess that is Bush's fault huh?
