TURLOCK Police on Monday identified a man who was fatally shot by an officer for allegedly refusing to stop beating a toddler to death along a remote road. Sergio Casian Aguilar, 27, parked his truck on an unlit road Saturday night, removed a 2-year-old boy from his car seat and proceeded to stomp, kick and punch the boy to death, authorities said. The boy was unrecognizable when he was pronounced dead at Emanuel Medical Center, the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department said.
Authorities have not released the boy's name but say they believe he was Aguilar's son. The Stanislaus County coroner and the California Department of Justice are testing DNA to confirm the relationship. Several motorists called 911 and tried to stop the beating, authorities said.
Dan Robinson, a local volunteer fire department chief, told The Modesto Bee that at first glance, he thought the child was a dead animal in the road. He said when he realized it was a child, he tried to stop Aguilar.
He said Aguilar had a total hollowness in his eyes and talked calmly of the boy being filled with demons.
Witness Lisa Mota told the San Francisco Chronicle that Aguilar told people who tried to stop him that the boy was trash.
Responding to 911 calls, a Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department helicopter landed in a dairy pasture near the scene. A Modesto police officer, Jerry Ramar, fatally shot Aguilar after he failed to heed the officer's warning to stop beating the child, authorities said. Aguilar flashed his middle finger at Ramar before Ramar shot him in the forehead, police said.
I have never seen anything like that before and I hope I never have to again, Ramar said of the beating.
Authorities have not released the name of the boy's mother.
Aguilar had no previous criminal history, police said. Results of toxicology tests on Aguilar are expected in four weeks.
Ramar has been placed on paid administrative leave, a routine response for officer-involved shootings.
That was too quick and painless for this slug.
Im not surprised,,, what a POS,,, is he legal?
I do not understand “witnesses tried to stop him”...what’s with the tried?
What did they do, yell stop?
Why didn’t someone jump him and kick the living tar out of him?
Why not a tire iron to the head?
“Tried”, they did not try hard enough.
He sure is now.
The AP wouldn't tell you if he wasn't because, as Geraldo would say, it had no bearing on his decision to commit this crime.
For God's sake! Didn't someone there have the gonads to make a flying tackle and get the piece of scum away from the child?
God bless Officer Ramar.
I understand what you’re saying. Had I been the witness he would have been dead before the police arrived.
“Aguilar flashed his middle finger at Ramar before Ramar shot him in the forehead, police said.”
He must have been requesting one to the forehead.
I am only 5’2” and weigh 130 pounds but I hope to God that if I would have been there I would have had the courage to take a tire iron to him.
The law-abiding citizens were unarmed.
Exactly. He was one individual, unarmed.
He even asked people in the crowd if they had any weapons he could borrow to use on the child.
Unless several people at the scene were treated for serious injuries they suffered trying to stop him, this is a more infamous incident for bystanders than the Kitty Genovese case ever was.
As Yoda said, "Try not. Do or do not. There is no 'try'."
I'd have been all over this POS like white on rice and at light-speed. Then I'd have given him exactly what he gave.
I suspect drug use.
If so, then for consistency’s sake, the pro-drug use iberal-tarians here should be happy.
I am glad this monster is dead.
Didn’t any of those passing motorists have a tire iron?
[That was too quick and painless for this slug.]
I wonder when the Constitutional experts will show up here to argue that Aguilar’s rights were taken away? I believe most cops are trained to make chest shots, not head shots, so it is likely this was an on the spot execution. But you know, California would have given the guy three square meals for the next fifty years if he’d lived.
Speaking of Kitty Genovese, did you know the piece of filth who committed that crime (among others over the years) is still alive? REading a description of him and his ‘life’s work’ is chilling.
There's nothing any man or woman could have done to this piece of trash that would be worse than what the good Lord is inflicting on him right now.
And heaven gained a 2 year old.
Don’t really know much about libertarians, Do ya?
At one point, the demon reportedly left off stomping the child, walked over and turned on the emergency flashers on a passerby's truck for him (leaving blood in the truck). I can't believe that someone didn't poleax him with a tire iron while he was busy doing that...
Of course, if it had been here in Texas, the cops would have landed only to examine his bullet riddled corpse...
He'll die in prison.

We are in shock. Unspeakable evil. I am glad, however, that the baby is in the Arms of Jesus.
The perp was the devil’s useful idiot.
Was there no one there who could stop this man from beating this toddler? I hear of at least two people trying to stop him, but the man goes back to beating the child. How is it that an entire group of people could not stop this unarmed man from killing this child, but were there to witness the entire murder?
A tree branch across the back of the head might have saved this child’s life. A man or woman willing to take a beating themselves could have distracted the murderer long enough for the police to arrive. Was there no one who was willing to save this child?
Or a decent folder. For all of California's goofy laws on CCW the law regarding knife carry is not that bad ,relatively speaking. The same rules apply for use of deadly force with a knife as a gun ie: “fear of death or great bodily injury”. That being said someone would have to have the guts to close with the POS and take him on with a blade with lethal intent. This situation has elements of the Kitty Genovese incident.
One things for sure, the poor kid and his father will never cross paths forever.
Can you believe he actually gave this defense at his last parole hearing...”For a victim outside, it’s a one-time or one-hour or one-minute affair, but for the person who’s caught, it’s forever.”
Most sociopaths do a better job of concealing their true thoughts from authority figures.
Despite what Hollywood would have you believe, that's a tough shot with a handgun.
I wonder what the distance was [10 feet or more?] and how many rounds it took him before he scored a hit.
If it was at 20+ feet, on the first shot, with the adrenaline coursing through his veins, then that's pretty darned impressive.
Works for me...
No offense, but if they don’t say, he probably was illegal. If he was legal they probably would have made a point somewhere in the article to indicate that.
Actually with the ease of obtaining body armor I have revised my shot sequence to two in the crotch and one to the head.
If you're a liberal-tarian, you do.
