Republican Huckabee says don't denigrate Obama (Republicans should celebrate historic moment)

TOKYO (AFP) - Former US presidential contender Mike Huckabee urged his fellow Republicans on Wednesday not to denigrate Democrat Barack Obama, saying they should celebrate the historic moment of a black candidate.

"Republicans will make a fundamental if not fatal mistake if they seek to win the election by demonising Barack Obama," Huckabee told a news conference on a visit to Tokyo.

The former Arkansas governor said that, having grown up in the segregated South, he never thought he would see an African-American win the nomination of a major party for the US presidency.

"I do not want to have anyone misrepresent or miss the opportunity to celebrate what I think is a landmark achievement, not just for Barack Obama, but for the United States of America," he said.

The country was able "to get to a point where we did not see his colour but we truly saw his charisma, his message and what he brought to the campaign trail," Huckabee said.

::::::
Hey, Huck, you are a bit LATE with your political pandering. Obama has already demonised himself. He has made no bones about who and what he is...as well as others who have dug up the other scandals and crime he has surrounded himself with.

Too late Huck...your pandering is obvious...we know who and what Obama is. Plain and simple.

Well, what do you expect? The real reason to denigrate Obama is that he’s a socialist. Huckabee being one as well sees nothing wrong with that.

I agree with Mike. I actually think this is a moment worth noting. A country that had segregation as near as 50 years ago, has nominated a black man for the highest office in the country. We’ve come a long way in a short time, and our greatness as a free nation is obvious in that anyone can experience the American Dream.

Obama’s success confirms American exceptionalism that liberals argue doesn’t exist. As much as radical feminists and racial activists try to convince us otherwise — this country is simply the greatest place on earth to be a female or a member of a racial or religious minority.

We are not a racist or sexist country, and it is essential that conservatives take this opportunity to argue with those that have been dragging our name through the mud.

Obama has ALREADY gotten a free ride from society....

Now IS the time that he must be called to task for his totally Un-American, racist and Marxist views — and his radically focused selection of friends and goals.

Affirmative Action does NOT apply to the Presidency.

Lord know we already have enough under performers, under achievers and totally corrupt immoral folks in politics due to voting on the basis of skin color by voters of darker skin color or white guilt.

Why? Because of his race? Isn’t that suppose to be taboo? Anyone that says he rec’d special privileges because of his race is automatically censored. He has absolutely no experience political or otherwise to run a country. He has absolutely no leadership qualifications to run a country. His background is nothing to tout. His black islamic dad left his white mom and the marriage is actually dubious. He reveres his dad but believes his white relatives are scared of all blacks. For all anyone knows, he was born out of wedlock. His wealthy white grandparents raised him after mom died. He rec’d privileges because of being black. Mainstream media and the upper elite are pushing him onto the voters because of his black and to show the world that the US can have a black prez regardless of lack of experience and background.

So Mikey, you just refrain from all the nonsense.

Perhaps — but liberal stupidity is hardly notable. McGovern, Carter, Mondale, Dukakis, Kerry, Gore, Paul ... the list of ridiculous candidates is long and pitiful. But, that Obama’s race wasn’t an encumbrance to his nomination is at least notable. We should take every opportunity we can to point out American exceptionalism where-ever it makes itself obvious.

Obama’s nomination is an opportunity for conservatives to note that we’re simply not the bastion of racist hatred that liberals would have you believe.

Derivation of the word "denigrate": "Origin: 1520–30; < L dénigrātus (ptp. of dénigrāre to blacken), equiv. to dé- de- + nigr(āre) to make black..."

Step back on that one a minute. The COUNTRY nominated him?
Hardly. Not even a small percentage of the Country did.
I live in Pa and unless you register democrat you are not allowed to vote in the primary. 2 States were not even allowed to have their primaries and vote. In the States that Obama “won” he usually did so, over another liberal, by a small percentage.
So NO, the COUNTRY did not nominate him. a fraction of Democrat only voters did.......................

America ....has nominated a black man...

One of the dirtiest political machines in the country, the Daly Chicago machine, the Black Liberationists and the 90% of blacks who voted for him BECAUSE of the color of his skin - and the whites who voted out of UNWARRENTED collective guilt - have elected this particular black man...

backwards racism reigns and people call it progress?

I agree with you, at least partly. The fact that Obama was nominated does present some evidence that we’ve come a long way in race relations and that’s important. Republicans should note that. But Obama represents so much more that is not worthy of our best and that’s what people here are responding to. Obama represents about the worst thinking that Americans could have used to nominate a candidate for President of the US. He wants to remove the protections the president has painstakingly built to protect us against future terrorism. He doesn’t even see the problem! He’s so hell-bent on achieving some kind of economic equality that is not a part of the capitalistic system that makes us the envy of the world that he doesn’t even understand foreign policy.

His nomination even points to a kind of reverse racism. Too many Americans are so intent on proving to the world that we have moved beyond our less than respectable past on race relations that they are willing to throw away our future to overcome a past that’s really past. An irony and a pity. Maybe a devastasting one.

Obama is not a historic moment. He is a manufactured media marketing campaign done up by the likes of MTV and Hollywood PR agencies. Just look at some of these things: And it goes on and on and on and on...this is what a liberal dominated education system in this country will get you...brainwashed white kids supporting a man who hasn't done jack shit to deserve the office of the President of the United States of America....but will vote for him anyway because MTV and Madison Avenue are pushing him as the next Elvis/MLK JR.

Excuse me????

Republicans have been nominating, voting and appointing blacks to high office for decades - much more so than dems - with one caveat: Republicans vote and appoint on character and qualifications, not color.

Get the difference?
