JOHANNESBURG (AFP) — A court on Wednesday issued a landmark ruling classifying Chinese South Africans as black, making them eligible for benefits for those discriminated against under the former apartheid regime.
The ruling from the Pretoria high court came after the Chinese Association of South Africa (CASA) challenged their exclusion from laws aimed at redressing economic imbalances under white-minority rule, which ended in 1994.
CASA argued that Chinese citizens continue to be marginalised under the country's black economic empowerment and affirmative action legislation. Both laws benefit the country's black, Indian and mixed-race communities.
Patrick Chong, CASA leader, described the ruling as a victory.
"Under the apartheid rule we were classified as coloured -- a term used to describe a mixture of black and white race," he said.

I think it's great. Let's classify blacks as black, and give them special consideration to make up for what people who looked vaguely like me did to people who look vaguely like them. Let's classify Chinese and other Asians as black, since they deserve the same special consideration as blacks do. While we're at it, let's classify everyone as black, including whites, so that everyone will be treated equally, almost as if Martin Luther King was right or as if the absence of discrimination in either direction was better than the presence of discrimination.

i think it’s all crap myself....the day they gave up Rhodesia, Namibia, and South Africa is when they surrendered.

Not entitlements. That is simply a polite word used when the law says we are entitled to take and that another person is obligated to produce for our benefit and without compensation. I'd rather think of it as a rule that all individuals should be judged by the same standards - not to be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character, if you'll excuse a phrase that is now considered racist.
