How old is John McCain?
polipundit ^ | Wednesday, June 18th, 2008 | W.C. Varones

He’s so old that his young-enough-to-be-his-daughter trophy wife, for whom he dumped the woman who loyally waited for him while he was a POW, is old.

They were married for 7 years after he returned. It didn’t workout. It happens. Liars in media would love to make it look like he came back and next day they divorced.

I don’t like McCain. I have a thousand reasons not to like McCain.

In fact, the day Obama announces he will name General Petraeus as his Secretary of Defense, is the day I will probably decide to sit this one out.

My bottom line is keeping Petraeus in the fight until its done. If that means voting for McCain, because the other party can’t find any adults to run against him, then so be it.

John McCain is younger than most of the Supreme Court justices. That either argues that there should be age limit for Scotus justices, or it argues that John McCain’s age is just fine.

John McCain is as younger or younger than many members of the House and Senate. He’s also, obviously, healthier than the guy from S.Dakota who’s a virtual vegetable, but still in the Senate because a Republican governor would appoint a Pubby replacement if the guy were ruled incapacitated.

So, the bottom line.

John McCain’s age is all about politics.

McCain is so old that the place where he was born has caused the New York Times to question his eligibility to be president since it is no longer US Territory (Panama Canal Zone). I’ll pay this idiocy the exact same amount of credence!

I speak from experience. I was married to a Navy SEAL. He wasn’t a POW...but the other stuff he did in Black Ops? I can vouch for that.

Let’s just say he wasn’t the man I married ten years later after he did some of the things he was expected to do for God, Family and Country. And I got off easy; he could’ve killed me in a heartbeat and I never would’ve known what hit me...and he’d still be walking around free today.

Yeah, yeah. It’s sounds SO dramatic; but I lived it. Let me just say that I am SO much happier being married to a Civilian for the past 15 years, LOL! (And I’m Retired Army!)

Oh please...Cindy is an intelligent and gracious woman. At least she doesn’t scowl at the world and be ungrateful for being successful like Michelle!

And with regard to McCain, I know that age has NOTHING to do with any of it. My father is going to be 83 next month. He is younger and healthier than most 40 year olds. His wife is younger than me too...so? She sincerely loves him and he loves her. He didn’t remarry until AFTER my mother died. But I don’t blame McCain for divorcing his wife. People change—especially after going through terrible hardships. Sometimes you cannot go back no matter how hard you try. It wasn’t meant to be, but he and his wife are happy now.

“John McCain is younger than most of the Supreme Court justices. That either argues that there should be age limit for Scotus justices, or it argues that John McCain’s age is just fine.”

Thank you! That is my KEY argument in this fight. I do NOT want Obama-Lama-Ding-Dong picking our next replacements on the SCOTUS!

Good God! Can you imagine a whole cadre of Ruth Bader-Ginsbergs sitting on the bench? *SHUDDER*

This “skirmish” in the long-term “battle” for return of control of our Country to The People CANNOT be lost because some “Conservatives” have their noses out of joint. Grow-the-F-up!

We need to win this one, Freepers. We can plan The Revolution later when we have the luxury of free time between 2009 and 2012. ;)

Old enough to have walked to school - uphill - both ways.
Old enough to put an uppity whippersnapper over his knee.
Old enough to remember what it was like when America had a real president
Old enough to believe in honor
Old enough to have any
Old enough to have forgotten more mistakes than you've made
Old enough not to care what the neighbors think
Old enough to be comfortable in his skin (as long as it isn't coming off)
Old enough to prefer a long walk in Oak Creek Canyon to a painted youknowwhatter getting in his face
Old enough to know a damn fool question when he hears one
Old enough to like the American people, for all their silly faults

and...

Old enough to be president. Not everyone in this race, is.

71 is not the age at which we put people out to pasture. Age does not disqualify John McCain.

Don’t misunderstand that to be an endorsement of J. McCain. When (if) I vote for him, it will be while holding my nose.

I don’t see any other party making a real show of going after the presidency. The little parties are all about federal matching funds, ego, or temper tantrums.

The reason NOT vote for John McLaim is because.... He IS NOT a democrat in name only.. he is not a fake..

So, let me get this straight.

In a particular year, the Election Gods have decreed that two Democrats, and no Republicans, will run for President.

The first Democrat has long time pro-life record and has championed the Surge strategy that is winning an American war.

The second Democrat is staunchly pro-abortion, has championed even partial birth abortion, has promised to bug out and lose the war and has promised to cut back development of America's future combat systems.

So, from now until Election Day, you will will urge people not to vote for the first Democrat that is running against the second Democrat that is pro-abortion and has promised to lose the war .........

......... because the first candidate is also a Democrat?

I guess I just don't share you priorities.

If a Democrat is willing to do what it takes to win the war and a Republican is perfectly willing to lose that war over partisan domestic politics, I'm giving my support to the Democrat that will win the war.

7 years with a man who had just been through torture and hell...

I know what my mom had to put up with and my dad wasn’t even a POW, he just bagged the bodies and carted them on the cargo hold of the planes to get shipped back home. He had enough flashbacks to end up in the psych ward once. (He got a job as a forklift operator and that didn’t go well with his history)

NOT the Election Gods, unless you wish to call Soros et.al. deities instead of elites.

I have no intention of spending my time trying to convince anyone to vote for one Democrat over the other, but neither will I be swayed to vote for either Democrat by those who think that the results are going to differ depending on which of these jokers is elected.

He is old enough to have met Adm. Halsey at Adm. McCain's (his Grandfather) Funeral.

Halsey told McCain that this was a good day to take up drinking Whiskey. McCain was 16 at the time and standing next to his Mother.

(According to a story in ‘Sea of Thunder’, a very good book about the battle of Leyte Gulf)

for what it’s worth, the first Mrs. John McCain apparently supports him enthusiastically. Did y’all know she served as Nancy Reagan’s appointments secretary for a while ( i’m not sure in White house/ before /after) Michael Smerconish talked on his radio show to the retired surgeon who had saved her life after the car wreck on Christmas Eve 1967. He said State Dept. called him Christmas Day and suggested he not talk to the media about her identity, as it might give some sort of leverage to the NV’s over prisoner JM. I believe he also said that she had requested no communication to her husband regarding the severity of her injuries due to her concern it would make his life more difficult. The surgeon apparently kept up with her for years and said she had been a great inspiration. She and JM have remained friends and talk on the phone often.

So I see Poly.. McLaim is not a lying weasle?..
And will say whatever to be elected Prez..
You know like The Beast.. the Queen of Hearts..
And by the way Obama, the Mad Hatter.. the same..

What all three of them SAY they will do when Prez.. has no bearing on what they WILL DO.. Bush has caused more problems than any democrat.. Mclaim is much worse.. As Prez when he does what he does.. he will revel in the moniker "a Maverick".. Bush had to throw some bones to the conservative dogs.. McLaim WILL NOT..

And the people that VOTE for him will say.. WELL I tried.. I HAD to vote for him.. Won't make much difference with a Congress that can overide a veto.. Which probably won't come anyway.. Voting for McLaim is a cowardly vote..

That's a lovely thing to say. Do you usually base your assessment of someone's character and inner life on a few photos? It's certainly not Cindy McCain's fault if she inherited genes that gave her certain features, any more than it's her fault if she is a certain height. Judge her instead on the kind heart that made her adopt and nurture orphans.

They were married for 7 years after he returned.

Were they? This may sound lame to non-Catholics, but there's a serious issue here: McCain's first "wife" was actually married at the time she took up with him. The presumption is that her marriage was valid, whether Catholic or not. Now this would mean that she was not truly available for McCain to marry. McCain's first marriage would then be of questionable validity.

He would have been in an adulterous relationship with the first gal until Cindy came along; his marriage to her (the first real one for both) would have ended his adulterous affair with another's wife by establishing a true marriage.

Laugh all you want, this is a viable interpretation of McCain's matrimonial status.

Does anyone think that Mother Theresa would have been running around the world handing off children to women in adulterous relationships? O.K., maybe Mother wasn't privy to all the details, but still. Saints do the right thing without having all the info on hand.

Cindy is genuinely charitable, her addiction troubles notwithstanding. She is also arguably McCain's first (and therefore only) wife.

Flame away. This going after Cindy McCain is really loathesome.
