A 19-year-old man accidentally shot and killed himself Tuesday morning while he was attempting to rob a Grand Prairie home, authorities said.

In the past they usually just shoot very important parts off.;-D
To: lonestar
Can’t. In Texas it is illegal to sue for damages incurred while you were committing a crime.

A classic 'hold muh beer' moment, and no one was even there to hold it for him. That yahoo was so inept, he doesn't even qualify for an initial Darwin Award ballot.

The really happy ending, is that the perp didn’t die instantly and had time to examine his mistakes in life, endure a little pain and maybe make peace with his maker.
All and all a touching story.
Now in the UK..the home owner would be in jail for implying that he would use force.

Doubtful, the homeowner didn’t even have to defend himself.
This is kind of like in foosball when you whack the ball to the other sides’ goal, it hits the wall and comes flying back into your own goal. Only you’re dead...

Probably neither. The Bradys will probably use this as a statistic along the line of “Child killed in tragic act of gun violence further proving the easy availability of handguns in America is a national tragedy” /s

Last words of the robber:
“Back off or the thief gets it!”
A person this sloppy in gun handling would have easily killed someone in the home.
Short of a lightning bolt, this was a case of divinely inspired instant justice.

The next-of-kin will sue the homeownerand a judge will rule in favor of the burglar.
Some reasons:
1-Homeowner did not supply enough light.
2-Homeowner was actually home....making drawn gun necessary.
3-Homeowners’ kids made him nervous.

Under Colorado “ Make my Day Law” it gives a person the legal right to use deadly force to defend that place (his/her “castle”), and/or any other innocent persons legally inside it, from violent attack or an intrusion which may lead to violent attack. Thank you Dirty Harry! If he is still breathing after I get my 12 gauge, he won’t be for long and it is justifiable homicide under the Castle Doctrine.
