(CNSNews.com) - Does any doting mother want to think about putting her firstborn baby in harm's way? Liberal backers of Sen. Barack Obama are banking on a "no" answer.
The liberal advocacy group MoveOn.org is running a political ad featuring a new mother, bouncing baby boy on her lap, chiding John McCain about wanting to wage a "hundred-year" war in Iraq.
"John McCain, when you say you would stay in Iraq for a hundred years, were you counting on Alex? Because if you were, you can't have him," the mother (actress) says with a quaver in her voice. (See video)
Many anti-war liberals like the ad. A quick scan of the liberal Democrat Underground Web site found the following accolades: "It is how many of us moms feel." "That is a very good ad." "They should also do one with a Dad -- not only Moms feel that way." "LOVE this ad."
But some people are offended by the ad's suggestion that McCain wants to keep the Iraq war going until babies like Alex are old enough to fight. What if Alex grows up and wants to serve his country? one YouTube contributor asked (see clip).
As Cybercast News Service has previously reported, Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) never said he wants to fight the Iraq War for 100 years.
The "100 years" controversy dates back to a Jan. 3 town hall meeting in Derry, N.H. In response to a voter's question about how many years U.S. troops might stay in Iraq, McCain said:
"Maybe 100. We've been in South Korea -- we've been in Japan for 60 years. We've been in South Korea for 50 years or so. That would be fine with me, as long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed. It's fine with me, and I hope it would be fine with you, if we maintain a presence in a very volatile part of the world where al-Qaeda is training, recruiting, and equipping and motivating people every single day."
McCain repeatedly has clarified that he does not foresee 100 years of U.S. combat in Iraq -- just a lengthy post-war troop presence. (See earlier story)
Beyond the misreprentation of McCain's remark, some bloggers are taking offense at the ad's implication that no one would serve in the military unless forced to do so.
MoveOn.org's "Baby Alex" ad is airing nationally for the next week, at a cost of $543,000, the Associated Press reported.
A stupid and loony ad. Bill O’Reilly played it on his radio show yesterday and laughed and laughed and laughed about it.
“Bring it on”, you moron liberals. I say conservatives use the 9/11 footage, along with pics of orphaned children from that day, and remind Americans the price we will pay for following Barack Hussein Neville Chamberlain Obama.

Yeah, saw it on his show. It is stupid. It sounds like the young mother expects John McCain to still be president when her baby hits 18. It also implies people don’t enlist, they are conscripted.
That’s a lot of money to spend on what looks like an ad done by a young hippie-chick on her webcam.
What these chumps don’t understand is that under an Obama Administration, the course will bet set that will one day lead to little baby Alex having his throat slit and his head cut off with a rusty blade by the jihadists, just like they did to Nick Berg.
I’m sure the leftists and liberals will all be deeply saddened.
But at least they will have gotten one commercial out of the kid before he got off’d by terrorists.
There is the whole Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy in place.

sure would be nice to have to grown men that really care about America running for office. i am so sick of the childish games they continue to want to play. be men, stand up before the people of this country and prove to us once and for all why you are the best person for the job. stop telling me why the other person is not the best one for the job.
I’m sure McCain, as President, will do all he can to make sure Alex is safe from terrorist attacks.
Pathetic. While French mothers were teaching their sons to dance, German fathers were teaching their sons to shoot. It took the Germans six weeks to defeat the French.
This MoveOn ad is a tribute to tofu-eating surrender monkeys and an insult to patriotic parents who have their sons fighting the war in Iraq and Afghanistan now. I have a feeling it will result in a backlash in the heartland among the very people Barry Hussein Obama needs to win in Nov.
We need to ask Obama if he will bring home those troops that Clinton promised would be home by Christmas sometime in the 1990s. Rotating the troops isn’t the same as bringing every man home.

While the west was trying to “negotiate” with the likes of radical islam, they were busy doing push-ups, waiting for their opportunity.
