Britney Spears' 17-year-old sister Jamie Lynn, star of Nickelodeon's popular TV show "Zoey 101," has given birth to a baby girl, People magazine reported on Thursday.
Jamie Lynn Spears gave birth to Maddie Briann on Thursday morning at a hospital in Mississippi, the magazine said.
A high school student who lives in Louisiana, Jamie Lynn Spears reportedly met the father, Casey Aldridge, the son of a Tennessee paper mill worker, at church. The couple are engaged, People magazine said.

Umm, not really. My mother was raised in good family and was pregnant at 17. My father, a farm boy, was 16. This was back in the early '60s. It was a shotgun wedding but they were married for 20 years. Both my sisters were married and had one at 19.

These girls surely are blowing up early. Take a look at Brit. She went from a hot chick to a porker in just a few short years. Look for younger sis to be a plus size girl within a few years.

What is the deal with that? I mean, I understand that sometimes people do dumb things, like get pregnant by someone they have no intention of marrying, or getting left by a boyfriend, or something, however, it seems to be more and more common that they get pregnant first, then have a child, and THEN they get married.

I don’t know, she’s had time for multiple baby showers. I don’t get it either, she either wants to marry him, or not, it’s very strange. My only guess is that in least this case it sounds a little better to say that she’s engaged.
Probably means the guy talked to a lawyer. The smart thing for the guy to do is to wait until the baby arrives, arrange a paternity test, and then start paying, one way or the other, if he's the father.
If the marriage occurs before the birth, in most (if not all) states, the guy is on the hook for the kid whether it is his or not.
That she gave birth to a girl is at least news (sorta).

Maybe so. Clearly we have taken the stigma completely out of unwed motherhood. In fact, I think we have glamorized it. I read about how brave and tough and wonderful single mothers are. I don’t read about how brave and tough and wonderful parents who stick it out and raise their kids are.

Even if the woman lies and says she's on the pill? Even if the guy takes precautions, but the woman lies and says they failed? Should the real father get a pass if he and the mother can set up a fall guy, or should she be able to collect from multiple partners? (By definition, she's had multiple partners, if there are multiple possible fathers).
Did you actually read my post? Let me say again, if a guy is having unprotected sex with someone he thinks might be having unprotected sex with someone else, he’s STUPID. And he gets what he deserves. But, on the other hand, guys need to learn to keep it in their pants if they don’t want to produce kids. Period.

Yes, you said that if there was a possibility that the guy was the father, you didn't care if he had to pay, even if he wasn't actually the parent. I do see that you covered the situation of fraud, however.
