I hope Murtha gets what’s coming to him but the MSM will totally ignore this.

“the lead attorney for Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani said he and his client will look into suing Murtha and the Time magazine reporter, Tim McGuirk, who first published the accusations by Iraqi insurgents. “
As WELL they should!!!! Will so look forward to seeing the progress of this. And maybe with it being against Murtha/Time, it will get at least some media play.

Rooney told Savage the Haditha case is the largest investigation in the history of the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, with 65 agents assigned by the government. From what I've seen, a lot of these guys piled on pretty eagerly, too.

"...the highest-ranking officer among the accused is considering a lawsuit against Democratic Rep. John Murtha, who fueled the case by declaring the men cold-blooded killers." If Murtha made the statements on the floor of the House, I believe the Constitution protects him from any legal action. I he made the statements anywhere else, I believe he's fair game for a slander or defamation lawsuit. I hope the officer sues him if he can! Maybe the other military personnel will join in the lawsuit.

Murtha should be tried for war crimes. He’s clearly helping the enemy. He damn sure isn’t doing anything to help the men an women of our armed forces.
The man is a dirtbag.

Murtha made his statements in at least two places other than the Congress. For any idiotic statements he made in Congress, he has an absolute Constitutional protection, as you correctly suggest. One statement was to an unspecified "group of reporters"," the other, where the most egregious remarks were probably made was on
Good Morning America. Neither of those would be protected conversations.
I believe both Time Magazine's article and Murtha's incoherent ravings are actionable. Let's hope the lawsuit moves forward and JRob will feature a place for us to donate prominently when it does.

There are few people that I hate, but Murtha is on the top of the list. Murtha should be hanged. No... drawn and quartered. I'm surprised a Marine hasn't turned out his lights.

And this guy is runner up:

They should have assigned Gibbs, DiNozzo, McGee, David, Ducky, and Abby to the case. They’d have cracked in an hour, with plenty of time taken out for commercials. ;-)

The semi-official place to donate to Chessani's legal defense is through the Thomas More Law Center. Go to www.thomasmore.org and click the "donation" link near the top right. This is the organisation that handled all the contributions soliticed by Michael Savage on behalf of the accused Marines.

Yeah, there was a thread here not too long ago about an Army unit testing/fielding the 416, that had to give it back because it wasn’t from an American company, probably Colt.
I don’t know enough about the SOPMOD M4A1 the SEALs use to comment on it. But I’ve seen the 416 on Future Weapons, and it looks like a pretty nifty toy to have. Without the major gun control laws, one of these may be had for under $900.
