"Where are all of the Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and helping the folks affected by the floods?
Where is all the media asking the tough questions about why the federal government hasn't solved the problem? Asking where the FEMA trucks (and trailers) are?
Why isn't the Federal Government relocating Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago?
When will Spike Lee say that the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines?
Where are Sean Penn and the Dixie Chicks?
Where are all the looters stealing high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets?
When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a "vanilla" Iowa, because that's the way God wants it?
Where is the hysterical 24/7 media coverage complete with reports of cannibalism?
Where are the people declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people?
How come in 2 weeks, you will never hear about the Iowa flooding ever again?"

Even people living far away can see the vast difference between the way Iowans handled their flood and the way that New Orleans residents handled theirs.
To: safetysign
Because it’s the majority race suffering, there will be no benefit concerts etc.
To: safetysign
Mostly, they handled it the same way. They evacuated.

They did? Then why did the Coast Guard have to mount the largest rescue operation in it’s history?

Jay Leno announced last night that he and some other entertainers will be giving a couple of shows in Las Vegas in the next few weeks, with proceeds going to the Midwest flood victims.
It’s a start, but there may not be anything else...

That’s because Iowa is populated by typical white people, bitterly clinging to their guns and religion. /s

Because the people suffering in Iowa are officially designated as oppressors because of the color of their skin.

My Son-in-Law is a LA State Trooper who was deployed to New Orleans in the Katrina aftermath. You should hear the stories of being under fire from the thugs and gangs who set up their private “fiefs” in the drier parts of the city. His unit partnered with a couple of Army and Marine units to clear the city block by block. In his words “we shot first and arrested second”.

Yeah, the only “victims” I’ve seen on TV were 2 stranded pigs. You don’t see any people, and you certainly don’t get any human interest (sob) stories.

I saw a story on the MSM this morning about a couple who got married on a bridge that was laterally under water hours before. The groom had been called up for Guard duty and the bride decided that that was not going to stop them from getting married. The townspeople - from a devastated town (Something crossing) made sure she had a cake and an JP>
That is what this country is about. Not looting and standing around whining about where is the Government!!

I live in IL. about 10 miles from where the levees went near Burlington Ia. I just called the Henderson Co. Sheriff's office this morning and asked what kind of help they needed. I was told they already had all the help they could manage and things were under control, but thanks for asking. We backwards rednecks around here just pitch in and get on with it.

No, it’s not GB hates corn people it’s a plot by him to reduce the amount of corn so the gas prices will go up! Har that was a funny line about the corn people though.

It’s so extraordinary to watch the non-coverage of this PARTICULARLY on MSNBC.
CNN and FOX have done several in-depth stories and have had regular live reports. The only time I’ve seen this covered on MSNBC is in the top of the hour newsbreaks.
Still- no Shep or Geraldo breathless with hysteria..

"Where are all of the Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help in restoring Iowa and helping the folks affected by the floods? The people of Iowa are predominately white and and Christian. They also have strong families and work ethics. They do not sit around and whine, they roll up their sleeves and do what needs to be done. To people in Hollywood these people might as well be from Mars, they are too alien to them. "Where is all the media asking the tough questions about why the federal government hasn't solved the problem? Asking where the FEMA trucks (and trailers) are?" They are trying their hardest to find some New Orleans style whiners but the only one they have found so far is Tom Harkin. "Why isn't the Federal Government relocating Iowa people to free hotels in Chicago? 1. Why would anyone in their right mind want to go to Chicago? Iowans take care of their own folks. "When will Spike Lee say that the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines?" Spike Lee could care less about Iowa. There are too many "redneck racist rightwing Christiantist crackers" there. As far as he is concerned the only question he would ask is "Why didn't more of them drown?" "Where are Sean Penn and the Dixie Chicks?" Sean Penn can't find the plug for his jonboat. The Dixie Twits could care less about Iowa. There are too many "redneck racist rightwing warmongering crackers" there. As far as they are concerned the only question they would ask is "Why didn't more of them drown?" "Where are all the looters stealing high-end tennis shoes and big screen television sets?" Iowa is not their native habitat. Their native habitat is any large city in any state that has been run into the ground by decades of corrupt Democratic party rule. If the flood was happening in Minneapolis, Detroit or Chicago you would see them out their in "full plumage". "When will we hear Governor Chet Culver say that he wants to rebuild a "vanilla" Iowa, because that's the way God wants it?" You won't. "Where is the hysterical 24/7 media coverage complete with reports of cannibalism?" Even they know no one would believe that crap out of them. Besides, they could care less about Iowa. Now if the flood was happening in Minneapolis, Detroit or Chicago you would hear that because it would be entirely possible. "Where are the people declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people?" Because the MSM and the Democrats could care less about Iowa. I am a bit surprised that Obama hasn't tried dropping this one yet, though. "How come in 2 weeks, you will never hear about the Iowa flooding ever again?" Because the MSM and the Democrats hate the fact that people can do just find without being 100% dependent on the federal government. There is also the fact that the population of Iowa is made up of mostly "redneck racist rightwing Christiantist crackers".

They call us in the Midwest “flyover country”.
I did see Leno last night mentioning a comedy fundraiser
at a casino in Vegas. I think Wanda Sykes is the headliner.
That should raise about a buck fifty AND get the obligatory ‘Bush’s fault’ ,too.

It’s sin that’s causing the problems! You grow the grain that makes the whiskey that gets all those innocents in trouble. Don’t forget all of the people your making fat with high fructose corn syrup.
Reporters don’t want to cover Iowa, it’s boring. We still had bars open so they could enjoy the gig.
To: wolfcreek
Culver told McCain and Obama to get out - to quit campaigning in Iowa at a time when we had suffered so much. My esteem for Culver rose quite a few points!

Yesterday, I was watching Fox and caught the best clip of the coverage. A young reporter guy was standing in a corn field pointing out the damage to the plants left by the receeding water. As the camera follows him, a dog in spotted rolling in something.
“Get away from that, don’t roll in that”, he scolded the dog and kept trying to complete the report. “Oooo, that’s a dead carp, get away from it!” This was the guy’s own dog that he took traveling with him for the report. He brings him along when traveling by car for remote takes.
The camera positions to film the final report remarks as you can see the dog just rolling in the dead carp with a frenzy. The poor guy is struggling to stay on topic as he is watching his pup doing the happy dance with a rotting fish that will leave a stench forever.
I almost died laughing. He will NEVER get that smell off his pretty city dog. I backed up the video and called my kids to watch it again. The pooch was having the time of his life.
