Heinz is set to challenge some viewer expectations with a light-hearted TV campaign that features two men sharing a kiss.
The TV commercial, which promotes a new range of dressing called Heinz Deli Mayo, breaks tonight and will be supported by a press campaign.
Heinz' new ad opens with a family on a normal morning routine with a young boy and girl getting ready for school and their father preparing for the office.
The young boy and girl go to the kitchen to get their sandwiches, which are being prepared by a man with a New York accent dressed in a deli serving outfit who they refer to as "mum".
When their father goes to get his sandwich he says to mum in the kitchen "See you tonight love".
However, mum barks back "Hey, ain't you forgetting something?", at which point the two men share a kiss. Mum then sends the father off with the words: "Love you. Straight home from work, sweet cheeks."

Though I can't stand Teresa Heinz, I ignored the feelings and frequented Heinz products because they provided American jobs, such as the plant in Pittsburgh, Pa. But, I think this is TOO far.
To: Operation_Shock_N_Awe
I don’t think Teresa has a thing to do with Heinz products anymore.
But, now I draw the line.
Too disgusting for words.

AMV BBDO said that the concept behind the campaign is that the product tastes so good "It's as if you have your own New York deli man in your kitchen".Watta ya mean, in da kitchen???

Dammit, I love their ketchup and Heinz57 sauce but I will be looking for another brand this weekend. Anyone recommend one that is similar to Heinz?

I don't think I'll be buying any of their products any more. Why do companies do crap like this? They offend 95% of their potential customers to amuse the rest.
If I worked for Hienz, I'd be looking elsewhere before the layoffs.

Is this ad only on British TV?Does it matter? The fact that they're catering to those that choose to live the gay "lifestyle" in any country is sufficient to lose my business.

That’s sort of nauseating. Well, drop the “sort of.” This is mayo, fer pete’s sake. Why do we have to have the gay subtext?

It was bound to happen. We’ve been brainwashed with TV shows to slowly make us think it’s okay to do things that only man and woman are supposed to do.
I refused to buy that brand anyway. I’ll tune out the garbage on TV.

"Anyone recommend one that is similar to Heinz?"Doesn't matter. This seems to be a new product. Never heard of a Heinz mayo.
In any event protesters should boycott all Heinz products. That'll show 'em.
The retail grocery business operates on very thin margins. If Heinz sales fall across their product mix, it will really hurt retail outlets. Shelf space is very expensive.

Great marketing strategy. Two percent of the consumers will LOVE this commercial.
The other 98% will be looking for another brand.

Over the last few years and knowing John Kerry is Teressa’s main squeeze got me to try Hunts products.
So now I buy Hunts until they make a stupid ad.
An ad like this highly offends me.

Homemade Mayonnaise
2 large egg yolks

pinch of white pepper

They showed this commercial last night on the O’Reilly factor. BOR bashed it and Bernie Goldberg was stupid enough to suggest that it had nothing at all to do with gays, it was just a clever commercial. I thought he had more sense than that.

I think I will buy a bunch of small bottles and experiment. Thanks for the tip on Kroger, since my local store was washed away in the flood I will have to try it after they clean and restock it.

It’s still the principle of the ad that bothers me. I admit, I have not bought a Heinz product, knowingly, since 04, cannot boycott it twice. Or, maybe I could buy it, and take it back for a refund, unopened.
