Over half of the American Whites consider presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama as a "risky" choice for the White House, whereas two-thirds believe McCain as a "safe" pick, a new survey has revealed.
The survey by the Washington Post/ABC News also opens up apprehensions of the race factor being whipped up by white supremist groups as a way to stop the Illinois Senator and the first African American from entering the White House.
The survey has shown that over half of Whites called 46-year-old Obama a "risky" choice for the top post, while two-thirds said McCain is a "safe" pick — 43% of the Whites said Obama has sufficient experience to serve effectively as president, and about two in 10 worry he would over-represent the interests of African Americans.
This is a factor that the Obama campaign needs to bear in mind as it renews its effort to slug it out in states like Ohio, West Virginia and Indiana, the survey said.
But overwhelmingly nine out of ten white people have said that they are open to the idea of electing an African American to the Presidency; but fewer whites — two thirds — have said that they would be "entirely comfortable" with it.
I thought kerry and gore were risky choices, too. So what?

I think there are riots no matter what...
- If B. Hussein, some hows loses the nomination at the convention = Riot
- If B. Hussein loses the general = Riot
- If B. Hussein wins + Riot like its an NBA championship.
I don't see any way we avoid them its just the extent of the riot that will vary.

I am prepared to be called a racist because I disagree with a politician who happens to have a different skin color than I do. I know that I am not racist, my friends and family know that I am not, and that, along with our dear country is what is important to me.
What someone calls me is not important. I know who and what I am.

I would love to vote for an African-American presidential candidate someday. I would love to vote for a woman also.
I have voted for women and members of minority groups for other offices. I try really hard to judge candidates based on their track records and “content of their character”.
Obama is yet another northern liberal being nominated by the Democrats. Democrats haven’t elected a northern liberal since JFK in 1960. And Obama may be the most liberal/socialist of them all.
I wonder if there has been any polling on whether some people will vote for Obama because he’s a minority. I know that some people won’t vote for a minority candidate, but they may be balanced out by those who prefer a minority candidate, regardless of his record or stands on the issues.
Hey, if people who have never been to Africa can call themselves "African-American" we should get to have our own classification too.

I’m open to the idea of electing a strong conservative black president—not some luke warm deal like Colin Powell and not some America hating communist like Obama. That doesn’t make me a racist—it makes me a partisan and I’m proud to be one.
P.S. I have thought too there will be riots if this schmuck doesn’t con his way in in November.
We used to be spared from a lot of things that happen in other countries. Unfortunately, we've now become more like them.

Interesting cartoon. I was listening to some show yesterday about these two..OBAMA and Michelle ma Belle as a result of her bid debut on The View...someone of the panelists mentioned that it was she who demanded they stay in that chruch. Sounds like a deflection to blame the wife and not the candidate thus taking the spotlight off of him for the lenghthy stay in Wright’s hateful church.
