I loved George Carlin when he was on the Ed Sullivan Show (yes I am an aging boomer). He was clean and he was funny.

You mean I'm not the only one?

Both Carlin and Richard Pryor were hilarious way back on the Sullivan show when they had to be clean. Then they got "edgy" and stopped being funny while everyone else started raving about what "geniuses" they were.

He was so much funnier on TV than he was live. I was disappointed when we saw his show. The first couple of ‘f’ bombs were shockingly funny, then it got old really fast when it turned out to be every other ‘f’ing’ word. Much better when he was on TV and had to be creatively funny as opposed to just saying that word every 2 seconds. Not much creativity working there, I walk outside the high school and hear the same stuff. It wasn’t entertaining then, it was boring and offensive. We were both disappointed when we left his show.
