It was only eight years ago that Joe Lieberman was the toast of the Democratic Party. As Al Gore's running mate during the 2000 presidential election, nary a bad word could be said about the Connecticut senator. Few questioned his Democratic credentials. Few questioned his fidelity to the Democratic Party. Though open minded on some issues, he was a Democrat's Democrat.
Oh, how times have changed.
"There's hardly any sense in which [Joe] Lieberman is an independent figure," writes Jonathan Chait in a recent article in The New Republic magazine. "He's become a cog in the Republican message machine."

The most rare of creatures; an honest RAT.
People are such freaks—they sometimes despise honesty because they don’t know which “side” your toast is buttered on. Ain’t that disgustin’?
I remember many years ago when Senator Phil Gramm of Texas was a democRat and saw the “writing on the wall.” He resigned his seat in time to run again as a Republican and won. I wish we still had him in the Senate, but he retired. John Cornyn ran for his seat and still holds it.
Joe should do that.
None that comes to mind. In fact, I'm not sure if it's his patriotism... or his faith... that drives his fervent support of Israel. What's so psychotic about the RAT's hatred for Lieberman... is that he gives them their current majority in the Senate even though he's an Independent! He caucus's with them and votes with them on every issue EXCEPT ONE.
IMO, there's more to it(concerning the commie RAT's) than Iraq when it comes to Joe Lieberman... but I won't go there.
I’m glad Lieberman is making a contribution to this nation in a vital area...however...
If Lieberman cares how he’s been treated over on that side, then he needs to come on over to the other side.
If he stays put, what can I say, my sympathy for him is quite limited.
Lieberman is very influential with Jewish voters.
End of story.
he is going because he will be announced as the VP
He would sign the Kyoto Treaty on global warming, and join the International Criminal Court.
McCain/Lieberman=No Vote! I assume that John is smarter than that.
mark
Mccain/?=no vote
I wish republicans would have a recreate 68, bunch of pizzed off conservatives demanding Juan to take a walk.
Lieberman is Jewish. He tends to be optimistic. He has a sense of humor. In today’s Hate America First-Hate Israel Second Democrat Party, these are not endearing traits.
That may be so, (and that is mostly due to his close association and friendship with McCain and his support for the WOT) but he remains a far-left, socialist-thinking, Senator on most issues.
Moreover, he is NOWHERE near as much of a thorn in the DemoRats' side (i.e. voting against democrat sponsored legislation or for republican initiatives) as was our own (Vermont's) traitorous turncoat, "Jumpin" Jim Jeffords.
Moreover there are some who are hoping that Lieberman switches sides (which would be nice for the remaining 6 months or so) but there's about as much a chance of that happening as me winning the lottery this week--and I haven't even bought a ticket.

Because Lieberman is for the war, some Republicans (i.e. Sean Hannity) get all confused and constantly ask Joe when he’s going to “change sides?” I’m glad this article pointed out that Lieberman IS a leftist most of the time.
David Bonier was pro-life and no one thought he should change sides. What IS it with radio talk show hosts and others that think Lieberman is a Republican? Lieberman likes all the attention just like McCain did for being a “maverick.” If anyone should change sides, it should be John McCain.
I’m aware of his positions on those issues.
He has made a contribution, however, in another area, a vital one.
When I say if he’s unhappy with the miserable treatment from the Dems he should switch sides, or else I can’t sympathize much with him, I’m speaking rhetorically or hypothetically.
I’m not pushing for another RINO to appear in our midst.
the r’s are letting him be president I dont think vp matters, rotten from the top down.
yet you will sit idlely by while they select a rino to be president.
