A coalition of atheists and Christians will protest during World Youth Day against the Pope's visit to Sydney.
With slogans including “Gay is great” and “Condoms save lives“, the NoToPope Coalition is planning a peaceful rally and march on July 19, the day Pope Benedict XVI travels to Randwick racecourse in Sydney's east.
“The Pope is homophobic,” coalition spokeswoman Rachel Evans said in a statement today.
“Pope Benedict also condemns millions of people to AIDS via his world-wide anti-condom policy.”
Members of the NoToPope Coalition include The Metropolitan Community Church, Atheists Sydney, The Socialist Alliance, Resistance, and Community Action Against Homophobia.
Atheists Sydney spokesman Anthony Englund said the protesters wanted to engage the broader community in the issues of homosexuality and contraception.
“These issues should be of concern not just to church groups but to society as a whole, and to young people in particular,” he said.
The coalition is planning a rally at Taylor Square in Sydney's inner east on Saturday, July 19, followed by a march to Randwick racecourse, where the Pope will be holding a prayer vigil with tens of thousands of young people.
Savvy Catholics should distribute copies of the following to the activists. These statistics support the position of the Catholic Church.

How does the Pope’s anti-condom message condemn people to die of AIDS?
First of all, these protesters have contempt for the Pope, and there is nothing he could do to placate them anyway.
Second of all, homosexuals in mutually monogamous relationships have scant fear of AIDS. Are they implying that promiscuous behavior is the norm among certain people, and they need condoms in order to have sex with strangers? Exactly what are they saying?
Thirdly, if they feel so strongly, a Gay charitable foundation could distribute condoms all over the world if they wanted to . They don’t need the blessings of the Catholic Church to do so. They could proclaim to everyone, ignore what the Pope says, your salvation rests with a condom, not in anything a church teaches.
I’m sure these well-dressed, clean scrubbed, polite young people will make their point in a mature, respectful manner ;<]

Satan’s Atheists Sydney spokesman Anthony Englund said the protesters wanted to propagandize the broader community in the issues of homophilia and spread the false gospel that there is such a thing as sex with zero consequences.
“These issues should be of concern not just to church groups but to society as a whole, and to satanic young people in particular,” he said.
The coalition is planning a radical and demeaning rally of a few dozen perverted aging unemployed baby boom whackdoodles at Taylor Square in Sydney’s inner east on Saturday, July 19, followed by a raucous march to Randwick racecourse, where they hope to disrupt and demean the Pope and the hundreds of thousands of faithful young men and women who will be holding a prayer vigil.

Let me say from experience in arguing this issue elsewhere, people will ignore facts that don’t fit their anti-Catholic views.

At first that headline was very off-putting but after thinking it over I guess one could call me an atheist christian; I was baptized in the Methodist church at an early age by my grandmother’s insistence and have been around mostly christian people my entire life.
After much thought I have concluded that strictly heirarchical churches are too stifling to the human character and dictatorial churches even worse.
The best choice is no church at all and a deep respect for those who live their lives with a strong conviction that causing harm is against the success of society and the race of man.
However, I have never been entranced by Mother Earth’s call to worship the ground upon which I trod and will fatefully crawl again - only to be covered by it in the end.
The final reward may simply be silence.

Yikes....now that’s scary scenario....we may all be sinners but Jesus Christ the true Messiah has spared us from Hell if we acknowledge and accept His saving blood. These blind idiots are on a crash course to hell by rejecting the all wise and loving God who must exercise His judgement on those who reject Him and His plan for eternal slavation through Jesus. Pray that they wake up before its too late for them.

There is no such thing as a gay Christian.
The lifestyles are diametrically opposed.
God, Jesus, and the Apostles have all declared Homosexuality a sin.
If you are actively sinning, you are not being Christ-Like, hence you are not a Christian.
Simple logic.

“Christians” with signs saying “Gay is Great”? Have they read their Bibles at all? Openly practicing sinful behavior without repentance is wrong. I do believe the gayness is part of the curse and the fall of man. Celebrating this disease only makes things worse.
They are as much intolerant as they are ignorant.
But then again what can you expect from people that scream in the street?

Imagine for just a moment that you took umbrage on the lowly worm and decided to take on its life in order to save it. This is precisely what God did. The Supreme Being who created the universe chose to be born in a stable in Bethlehem. You were born into this world to live; He was born, to die. He took on your form, out of great love, and humbled Himself to be shunned, spit upon, flogged, pierced with thorns and nailed to a cross so that you could be redeemed from your sinful state.

Not only did He take on human form and allow Himself to be humiliated by mankind, He left a great gift to you! His Church. There is nothing dictatorial about this Church; if anything, it is liberating. Consider that of all the christian churches, only the Catholic Church has not approved artificial contraception. Why? Because, as this article demonstrates, once man steps out of the realm of marriage to one woman, he crosses the threshold into illness and disease. It is man, using his God given gift of "free will" who chooses to bring down these maladies upon himself. Without rules and regulations, a society cannot exist.

The Catholic Catechism poses the question: "Why did God make me?" The response is so simple: "He made me to know, love and serve Him in this world and be happy with Him forever in the next". Until you actually know God, you cannot possibly love Him.
Your days on this earth are fleeting. Like wisps of air they will one day evaporate and you will come face to face with your Creator who will ask what you have done with His gift of life. Eternity is forever.

You must promise to provide daily coverage from the event! When B16 went to Germany, we had a freeper attending WYD. She would email me detailed information each day and I would post a thread with her running commentary. It was fresh, fun and made us feel like we were right there with the Holy Father. Perhaps you could be our "man in the field" :-)
