NASA's Hansen: Oil Execs Should Be Tried For Crimes Against Humanity
newsbusters.org ^ | June 23, 2008 | Noel Sheppard

Posted on 06/23/2008 10:21:56 AM PDT by Free ThinkerNY

Although it seems like just yesterday, Monday marks the 20th anniversary of the day James Hansen, the head of NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies, told members of Congress the world was doomed if the burning of fossil fuels didn't immediately cease.

To commemorate this inauspicious occasion, Hansen is going back to Capitol Hill to call for oil company executives to be put on trial for crimes against humanity and nature.

Can you imagine the media firestorm this is going to create?

While you ponder, the following was reported by England's Guardian Monday (emphasis added):

James Hansen, one of the world's leading climate scientists, will today call for the chief executives of large fossil fuel companies to be put on trial for high crimes against humanity and nature, accusing them of actively spreading doubt about global warming in the same way that tobacco companies blurred the links between smoking and cancer. [...]

Speaking before Congress again, he will accuse the chief executive officers of companies such as ExxonMobil and Peabody Energy of being fully aware of the disinformation about climate change they are spreading.

James Hansen is the perfect example of the Peter Principle: "In a Hierarchy Every Employee Tends to Rise to His Level of Incompetence."
Hansen has arrived, and now he's going to boast of it.

Wouldn’t it be ironic if scientists who correctly interpret climatic data were put on trial and jailed because the scientists who didn’t properly interpret the climatic data controlled the Congress and the courts? 1984 Anyone?

The courts should be kept as far away from the scientists as possible.

"James Hansen, the director of the agency's [NASA's] Goddard Institute for Space Studies, received a $250,000 grant from the charitable foundation headed by former Democrat Presidential candidate John Kerry's wife, Teresa Heinz. Subsequent to the Heinz Foundation grant, Hansen publicly endorsed Democrat John Kerry for president in 2004, a political endorsement considered to be highly unusual for a NASA scientist.":

THE ACQUITTAL OF CARBON DIOXIDE
by Jeffrey A. Glassman, PhD

ABSTRACT:

"Carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is the product of oceanic respiration due to the well-known but under-appreciated solubility pump. Carbon dioxide rises out of warm ocean waters where it is added to the atmosphere. There it is mixed with residual and accidental CO2, and circulated, to be absorbed into the sink of the cold ocean waters. Next the thermohaline circulation carries the CO2-rich sea water deep into the ocean. A millennium later it appears at the surface in warm waters, saturated by lower pressure and higher temperature, to be exhausted back into the atmosphere. Throughout the past 420 millennia, comprising four interglacial periods, the Vostok record of atmospheric carbon dioxide concentration is imprinted with, and fully characterized by, the physics of the solubility of CO2 in water, along with the lag in the deep ocean circulation.

Notwithstanding that carbon dioxide is a greenhouse gas, atmospheric carbon dioxide has neither caused nor amplified global temperature increases. Increased carbon dioxide has been an effect of global warming, not a cause. Technically, carbon dioxide is a lagging proxy for ocean temperatures. When global temperature, and along with it, ocean temperature rises, the physics of solubility causes atmospheric CO2 to increase.

If increases in carbon dioxide, or any other greenhouse gas, could have in turn raised global temperatures, the positive feedback would have been catastrophic. While the conditions for such a catastrophe were present in the Vostok record from natural causes, the runaway event did not occur. Carbon dioxide does not accumulate in the atmosphere."

http://www.rocketscientistsjournal.com/2006/10/co2_acquittal.html

_______________________________________________________________

The graph above represents temperature and CO2 levels over the past 400,000 years. It is the same exact data Al Gore and the rest of the man-made global warmers refer to. The blue line is temps, the red CO2 levels. The deep valleys represent 4 separate glaciation periods. Now look very carefully at this relationship between temps and CO2 levels and keep in mind that Gore claims this data is the 'proof' that CO2 has warmed the earth in the past. But does the graph indeed show this? Nope. In fact, rising CO2 levels all throughout this 400,000 year period actually lagged behind temperature increases ...by an average of 800 years! So it couldn't have been CO2 that got Earth out of these 4 past glaciations. Yet Gore dishonestly and continually claims otherwise.-ETL

_______________________________________________________________

"The above chart shows the range of global temperature through the last 500 million years. There is no statistical correlation between the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere through the last 500 million years and the temperature record in this interval. In fact, one of the highest levels of carbon dioxide concentration occurred during a major ice age that occurred about 450 million years ago. Carbon dioxide concentrations at that time were about 15 times higher than at present.":
http://www.tcsdaily.com/article.aspx?id=010405M

_______________________________________________________________

So, greenhouse [effect] is all about carbon dioxide, right?

Wrong. The most important players on the greenhouse stage are water vapor and clouds. Carbon dioxide has been increased to about 0.038% of the atmosphere (possibly from about 0.028% pre-Industrial Revolution) while water in its various forms ranges from 0% to 4% of the atmosphere and its properties vary by what form it is in and even at what altitude it is found in the atmosphere.

In simple terms the bulk of Earth's greenhouse effect is due to water vapor by virtue of its abundance. Water accounts for about 90% of the Earth's greenhouse effect -- perhaps 70% is due to water vapor and about 20% due to clouds (mostly water droplets), some estimates put water as high as 95% of Earth's total tropospheric greenhouse effect (e.g., Freidenreich and Ramaswamy, 'Solar Radiation Absorption by Carbon Dioxide, Overlap with Water, and a Parameterization for General Circulation Models,' Journal of Geophysical Research 98 (1993):7255-7264).

The remaining portion comes from carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide, methane, ozone and miscellaneous other 'minor greenhouse gases.' As an example of the relative importance of water it should be noted that changes in the relative humidity on the order of 1.3-4% are equivalent to the effect of doubling CO2.

http://www.junkscience.com/Greenhouse/

_______________________________________________________________

Water Vapor Rules the Greenhouse System

Water vapor constitutes Earth's most significant greenhouse gas, accounting for about 95% of Earth's greenhouse effect (4). Interestingly, many 'facts and figures' regarding global warming completely ignore the powerful effects of water vapor in the greenhouse system, carelessly (perhaps, deliberately) overstating human impacts as much as 20-fold.

Water vapor is 99.999% of natural origin. Other atmospheric greenhouse gases, carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), and miscellaneous other gases (CFC's, etc.), are also mostly of natural origin (except for the latter, which is mostly anthropogenic).

Human activites contribute slightly to greenhouse gas concentrations through farming, manufacturing, power generation, and transportation. However, these emissions are so dwarfed in comparison to emissions from natural sources we can do nothing about, that even the most costly efforts to limit human emissions would have a very small-- perhaps undetectable-- effect on global climate.

The problem with the shuttle rockets is NOT the liquid engines, which produce only water from the burning of Oxygen and Hydrogen.

It is the Solids that are the problem, being composed 0f 1100 tons of Ammonium Perchlorate, liquid rubber, a curing agent, and powdered aluminum. sorta like pouring liquid oxygen on a tire fire.

Oil is part of nature. Liquid Oxygen and Liquid Hydrogen are not. So sir, your Rocket Fuels damn you. There is a very vocal element that accuses NASA of “disturbing” the atmosphere by breaching it with every launch.

The oil Executives are people who create wealth, jobs, opportunity, advance technology, provide a needed product (Oil) and so they make everyone’s life better.

This Hansen is a liberal government employee who has never worked a day in his life but has a cushy government job where he uses his position to spread the global warming lie. You are right this Hansen along with all the liberals in the media and congress who keep spreading the global warming lie should be tried for crimes against humanity.

So why is the government taking money from people who are productive and produce wealth in the private sector and giving it to these unconstitutional government agencies like NASA? This is what these government liberals are using their positions in these agencies for , advancing socialism.

Here's the big "press release" from Hansen and the climate nuts for the GISS corrected temperature data. August 2007.

http://data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/graphs/Fig.D.txt

And the revised graph:

After Hansen "CORRECTED" the temperature data after getting caught fudging it by Steven McIntyre, it now shows 7 of the 11 hottest years in the USA all occurred before 1955.

I remember some environmentalist claim that every shuttle launch destroys 0.25% of the ozone layer.

Why Didn't We Listen to Project Censored about the Space Shuttle?

Given that there has been 121 shuttle launches, I would have expected the ozone layer to have been 30% destroyed by now. Not so, of course.

Typical Liberal/”Progressive”...scrath one and you find a frothing at the mouth, Communist control freak, that wants to start up Soviet show trials, and “Socialise” everything, create “Unfairness Doctrines”, against anyone who disagrees with them.

The Left by any other name, still stinks of wanting to enslave everyone “for their own good”, with their Political Correctness/Hate Crime Laws/EcoTard Tyranny/”Tolerance” (AKA Prosecution for Intolerance of Perversion and deviancy.)

The machine is everything! Speak out againt the ever more pervasive degeneracy, and you will be savagely attacked.

I believe Hansen also got a several-hundred-thousand-dollar grant from the Open Society Institute (ie George Soros).
IIRC Soros has a “Center for the Politicization of Science” as part of that institute.

As a scientist myself I find even that title to be abhorrent.

Chicken Little and “Echochondriacs” *

chick2

One day Chicken Little was walking in the woods when -- KERPLUNK -- an Enviro-Nut fell on her head

"Oh my goodness!" said Chicken Little. "The sky is falling! I must go and tell President Bush."

On her way to the White House, Chicken Little met Nervous Nelly.
Nervous Nelly said that she was going into the woods to hunt for worms.

"Oh no, don't go!" said Chicken Little. "I was there and the sky fell on my head! Come with me to tell President Bush."

So Nervous Nelly joined Chicken Little and they went along and went along as fast as they could.

Soon they met Crotchety Bobby, who said, "I'm going to the woods to hunt for seeds."

"Oh no, don't go!" said Nervous Nelly. "The sky is falling there! Come with us to tell President Bush."

So Crotchety Bobby joined Nervous Nelly and Chicken Little, and they went along and went along as fast as they could.
Soon they met Lucy Goosey, who was planning to go to the woods to look for berries.

"Oh no, don't go!" said Crotchety Bobby. "The sky is falling there! Come with us to tell President Bush."

So Lucy Goosey joined Crotchety Bobby, Nervous Nelly and Chicken Little, and they went along as fast as they could.

chick3

Then who should appear on the path but sly old James Hansen, a self-proclaimed "authoritative" climate "scientist."

"Where are you going, my fine feathered friends?" asked Hansen. He spoke in his polite NASA voice, so as not to frighten them.

"The sky is falling!" cried Chicken Little. "We must tell President Bush."

"I know a shortcut to the White House," said Hansen sweetly. "Come and follow me."

But wicked EnviroNut Hansen did not lead the others to the Oval Office. He led them right up to the entrance of his Carbon Trading Pit. Once they were inside, Hansen was planning to turn them into Liquid CO2!

Just as Chicken Little and the others were about to go into the Hansen pit, they heard a strange sound and stopped.

chick4
It was President Bush's Special Hunting Dogs, growling and howling.

Jim Hansen then hustled his NASA butt, across the meadows and through the forests, with the hounds close behind.

He ran until he was far, far away and never dared to come back again.

chick1

After that day, Chicken Little always carried an umbrella with her when she walked in the woods.

The umbrella was a present from President Bush to protect Chicken Little From any Enviro-Nuts falling from Green-Trees.

And if -- KERPLUNK -- an Enviro-Nut fell, Chicken Little didn't mind a bit. In fact, she didn't notice it at all.

The End

Everyone who thinks that “Global Warming” is mere hystaria should be shot or permanently imprisoned.

That way we don’t have to ever think again for ourselves and can just sit back and accept anything that our “Superiors” tell us to believe and accept. That way we can go to the movies, shopping, bar etc with a clear conscience and be confortable in our ignorance.
