"Barack Obama told a group of Florida donors Friday night that Republicans will try to make voters afraid of him, and suggested they would use his race to scare up votes for John McCain," Fox News reports.
"We know what kind of campaign they're going to run. They're going to try to make you afraid," Obama said at the fundraiser. "They're going to try to make you afraid of me. He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black? He's got a feisty wife."

This is a very clever bit of rhetoric. For one thing, note how Obama conflates the entirely legitimate concern over his inexperience with prejudice against his race or "funny name." If you vote against him because he's green, you might as well be voting against him because he's black.
For another, Obama is baselessly accusing Republicans of racial prejudice, or at least of cynically pandering to racial prejudice. But by wording this "accusation" as a prediction, Obama is able to cast aspersions without needing any evidence to back them up. He implicitly ascribes to the GOP the view that voters are prejudiced against blacks, then calls on voters to prove they are not by voting for Obama.

A journalistic effort in the same direction appeared in the Washington Post over the weekend. The Post suggests that there has been a backlash against the Obama candidacy in the form of "an increase in racist and white supremacist activity, mainly on the Internet." ... The Post, however, acknowledges that there is very little evidence for this claim:

Barry (the Uniter) and his MSM buddies
are already playing the race card real hard
Any of you Freepers surprised?
I hope it works out at least as well for him as did John Kerry’s service in Viet Nam.
Not a drop of White Guilt here. Sorry, you ..............
I detest this DECEIVER.
What makes me fear Obama is not his color. It is who and what he is. It is his disdain for America and everything this Nation was founded on. It is his extreme left even socialist intentions and agenda.
What makes me fear Obama is my love of my Country and desire for it to continue and be the very best it can be..
No Republican or anyone else need say or do anything. I only need to listen to Obama speak. To read and understand his history.
No guilt here... I still am writing in Duncan Hunter for President...I made that decision long before BO got the nomination..unless Hillary up sets him some how..I am sure she is still trying to figure out how.
If Obama is making a play for white liberal guilt at this stage in the campaign, his independent and private polls must be telling him something he doesn’t want to hear
Good point. I hope so.
Ummmm, I’ve never owned slaves, was not born with a silver spoon, have to work hard for each and everything thing I have (and then some). What is this “guilt” they speak of?

Here is the pertinent part of the referenced post including the time stamp.
Obama is getting ready for McCain.
His whole campaign is going to be about race.
He is framing the argument that to even bring up his racial makeup will be tantamount to racism!
This will also be framed to include his Muslim roots, his ties to Africa, and other various stuff.
Mark my words.

Seems to me the only one bringing up race in this campaign is obama.
Whenever the city of Boston was looking for a new Police Commissioner or Superintendant of Schools, the Council or Committee would say they are looking for the most qualified candidate and some crank would say “there you White people go again, talking about qualifications.” I kid you not, I rememeber that quote. I think it was Mel King.
I think you're supposed to feel guilty that the Civil War was not fought sooner, and that some white people were left alive after it was over, thereby preventing the surviving slaves from turning America into a paradise like Zimbabwe or South Africa. Or Gabon. Or Bourkina Fasso. Or Ethiopia. Or Uganda.
And he is fishing the Sea for whitefish..
Ohhhhhh. Well then, I guess I’ll just sit here bitterly clinging to my gun and my Bible, damning America cause there’s still whities left on the face of the earth.
“They’re going to try to make you afraid of me. He’s young and inexperienced and he’s got a funny name. And did I mention he’s black? He’s got a feisty wife.”
It is now officially: All About Race.
And did I mention he's a disgusting racist? He's dragging race into this thing like crazy. It's getting ugly out there.
It's the same little trick that the opponents of California's anti-affirmative action Prop 209 used; to wit, they invited David Duke and paid him well to debate in favor of Prop 209 thus associating supporters of 209 with white supremacists.
Without the Internet and with the "Fairness Doctrine" 90-percent of the people would have totally believed MSM employees screaming "White supremacists behind Prop 209!"
"Extra! Extra! White supremacists behind opposition to Obama! White supremacists behind opposition to Obama! White.. wot? There's no Fairness Doctrine? Doh!"
RUSH: This guy is diabolical...this is a disgrace and people should be furious.
He's BLACK!?
Why did no one tell us!

Obama may be over-estimating the ‘white guilt’ vote. Aside from Jewish folks in Florida and New York, pretenders on the upper West Side in NYC, and some of Boston’s Back Bay high rent folks, ‘white guilt’ is in serious decline. :)
Hey you!!!! Gramma???? I don’t even have a freakin kid!!!! Ahhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
j/k, well kinda...not a gramma nor baby momma. Just a typical white Conservative, God fearing single gal!
Obama: Our first affirmative action candidate.
Well, gun toting, God fearing Grandma, I am a Gun toting white male grandpa, two grandchildren, many, many firearms and much ammunition. Not a racist bone in my body but I hate B.H. Obama.
or you’re a racist. =
then you’re a racist.
Wow! Exactly what I was thinking and it's only post #2. lol
Hillary missed out on the fad.
Nah, Hillary should have portrayed herself as a Cougar...
Yeah, I can see how that would have increased her share of Democrat votes.
But Obama is Arab, black and white.
What does that make him?
You don't say? I hadn't noticed. You'd have thought it would have been in the papers or on the news.
Whenever John Kerry's visage appeared on TV in 2004 I'd turn to my wife and say, "Did you know that John Kerry was in Vietnam?" and she'd reply in mock surprise "You don't say, you'd think..."
Just to be clear; I didn’t mean that sarcastically.
Yep
obamama is the uber racist, painting all republicans as de facto racists - to be dismissed as such.
Typical Marxist/demLib strategy.
The Republican Party has been the most UN-racist from the get go.
Republicans choose on the basis of experience, character and expertise 'without regard to the color of their skin.'
We would gladly vote for a black president, if the person had the qualifications and the character of, say, Michael Steel

or Allen West of Florida:

It's not about color, obabama, it's about CHARACTER, you empty suit/empty head puppet of the corrupt Chicago Machine, the Black Liberationists and a committed Marxist/Islamic = to whom the sound of the Islamic call to prayer at sunrise is the "most beautiful sound on earth" and which you are said to be able to quote verbatim with perfect intonation and accent.
We are not fooled by fools.
YOU, Obama, are the racist - along with your fellow parishioners of 20 years = and the tens of thousands of other Black Power Liberationists across the county = which would be evident had the poll for racism just conducted also included polling the blacks as to their hatred towards whites.
You're even racist against other blacks - if they are Republicans.
A mongrel?
