In this letter, to be read to all LDS congregations in California this Sunday, the LDS Church joins with other good people of faith who are actively opposing the ruling.

While the Church rarely gets involved in political issues, there are times when moral issues override all else. This isn't the first time the Church has openly campaigned against Gay Marriage rulings, and I'm sure it won't be the last.

You can disagree with the Church all you want, but they continue to take stands on moral issues, like it or not.

seven,

Just for the record, I’m glad the Mormon religion is opposed
to gay marriage. I would be very glad if Hindus and any other religious group would get on board too.

And of course, it would be great if all denominations of
the Christian Church would also oppose gay marriage.

Best,
ampu

Methodist will, their “leadership” (read that to mean the Yankees up north that Satan has saddled them with) will not.

It was a smart move, but an easy one to make. There are even atheist who vocally oppose Gay Marriage.

And it was only a matter of time before you jump to conclusions that a ping list is an automatic signal for you to bash and degrade those who disagree with lds.

Unless you know a special meaning for the word ping, you need to get over yourself.

This isn't the first time the Church has openly campaigned against Gay Marriage rulings, and I'm sure it won't be the last.

That's a real good time to brush up on the BIBLE!!

(Are there any OTHER standard works that address this gay thing?)

Genesis 13:13       Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD.

Genesis 18:20-21
20. Then the LORD said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and
their sin so grievous
21. that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."

Genesis 19:4-7
4. Before they had gone to bed,
all the men from every part of the city of Sodom--both young and old--surrounded the house.
5. They called to Lot, "Where are the men who came to you tonight?
Bring them out to us so that we can have sex with them."
6. Lot went outside to meet them and shut the door behind him
7. and said, "No, my friends.
Don't do this wicked thing.

Psalms 12:8      The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.

Ain't this just FABULOUS??      More?

Isaiah 3:9   The look on their faces testifies against them; they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They have brought disaster upon themselves.

2 Peter 2:13b  Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

Ezekiel 16:49-50
49. "`Now this was the sin of your sister Sodom: She and her daughters were arrogant, overfed and unconcerned; they did not help the poor and needy.
50. They were haughty and did detestable things before me. Therefore I did away with them as you have seen.

2 Peter 2

 1.  But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them--bringing swift destruction on themselves.
 2.  Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
 3.  In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
 4.  For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell,  putting them into gloomy dungeons  to be held for judgment;
 5.  if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others;
 6.  if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly;
 7.  and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men
 8.  (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard)--
 9.  if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.
 10.  This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature  and despise authority.   Bold and arrogant, these men are not afraid to slander celestial beings;
 11.  yet even angels, although they are stronger and more powerful, do not bring slanderous accusations against such beings in the presence of the Lord.
 12.  But these men blaspheme in matters they do not understand. They are like brute beasts, creatures of instinct, born only to be caught and destroyed, and like beasts they too will perish.
 13.  They will be paid back with harm for the harm they have done.
Their idea of pleasure is to carouse in broad daylight. They are blots and blemishes, reveling in their pleasures while they feast with you.

But there IS hope!!!

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

 9. Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived:
Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders
10. nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.
11. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.

If you could NOT change, you would be in most pitiful shape.....

If you’ve got one for hating Jews, Jehovah’s Witnesses, Seventh-Day adventists and certain Southern Baptist conventions (you know the ones), Hindu’s & Buddhists add me to that one, too.

The slippery slope is if you allow gay marriage, polygamy cannot be far behind it. I would think the Mormon church would find this association uncomfortable. They should be whistling past the graveyard, in my opinion.

Not the same nut, read the article. You can start in the late 90’s when the gay marriage movement really started picking up steam, and the LDS church donated over 1 million dollars to fight it in Alaska and Hawaii, and it keeps going from there. Read the article, lots of nuts in those squirrel cheeks.

One more nut to share before I squirrel away for the night...

This proclamation by the First Presidency, given in 1995 doesn't mince words. It was sent not only throughout the worldwide Church, but to governments, heads of state, etc, as a proclamation to the world.

Here's a snippet.

“... Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets.

We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society.”

Wow. Y'all came to the party a little late. James Dobson formed "Focus on the Family" in 1977. I guess he is just an enigma of the Christian church, according to your cult's standards..

LDS apologists, like you, do an excellent job of posting long winded dissertations. Now, if you could just get the facts on your side, you may be on to something.

LDS'ers are nice, sincere people. LDS church doctrine and theory is anathema to Christians, and has to be refuted. I can use the name of Jesus Christ all day. It doesn't make me a Christian.

Joe Smith was proven a phony. But, too many people have an investment in their future godhood, and hope that the Bible-based Christians are wrong.

Why is it that NONE of those are women?

How can a prophet be proven in error so many times, and still be considered a prophet, much less the holder of the keys to heaven, as your BOM tells you?

I know JUST what you mean!!

http://scriptures.lds.org/en/js_h/1/19#19
17 It no sooner appeared than I found myself delivered from the enemy which held me bound. When the light rested upon me I saw two Personages, whose brightness and glory defy all description, standing above me in the air. One of them spake unto me, calling me by name and said, pointing to the other—This is My Beloved Son. Hear Him!
18 My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the Personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right (for at this time it had never entered into my heart that all were wrong)—and which I should join.
19 I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong; and the Personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in his sight; that those professors were all corrupt; that: “they draw near to me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me, they teach for doctrines the commandments of men, having a form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof.”
20 He again forbade me to join with any of them; and many other things did he say unto me, which I cannot write at this time. When I came to myself again, I found myself lying on my back, looking up into heaven. When the light had departed, I had no strength; but soon recovering in some degree, I went home. And as I leaned up to the fireplace, mother inquired what the matter was. I replied, “Never mind, all is well—I am well enough off.” I then said to my mother,
“I have learned for myself that Presbyterianism is not true.”

The slippery slope is if you allow gay marriage, polygamy cannot be far behind it.

( A scene at City Hall in San Francisco )

"Next."

"Good morning. We want to apply for a marriage license."

"Names?"

"Tim and Jim Jones."

"Jones? Are you related? I see a resemblance."

"Yes, we're brothers."

"Brothers? You can't get married."

"Why not? Aren't you giving marriage licenses to same gender couples?"

"Yes, thousands. But we haven't had any siblings. That's incest!"

"Incest?" No, we are not gay."

"Not gay? Then why do you want to get married?"

"For the financial benefits, of course. And we do love each other.
Besides, we don't have any other prospects."

"But we're issuing marriage licenses to gay and lesbian couples who've been
denied equal protection under the law. If you are not gay, you can get
married to a woman."

"Wait a minute. A gay man has the same right to marry a woman as I have.
But just because I'm straight doesn't mean I want to marry a woman.
I want to marry Jim."

"Are you going to discriminate against us just
because we are not gay?"

"All right, all right. I'll give you your license.

Next."

"Hi. We are here to get married."

"Names?"

"John Smith, Jane James, Robert Green, and June Johnson."

"Who wants to marry whom?"

"We all want to marry each other."

"But there are four of you!"

"That's right. You see, we're all bisexual. I love Jane and Robert, Jane
loves me and June, June loves Robert and Jane, and Robert loves June and
me. All of us getting married together is the only way that we can express
our sexual preferences in a marital relationship."

"But we've only been granting licenses to gay and lesbian couples."

"So you're discriminating against bisexuals!"

"No, it's just that, well, the traditional idea of marriage is that it's
just for couples."

"Since when are you standing on tradition?"

"Well, I mean, you have to draw the line somewhere."

"Who says? There's no logical reason to limit marriage to couples. The more
the better. Besides, we demand our rights! The mayor says the constitution
guarantees equal protection under the law. Give us a marriage license!"

"All right, all right.

 Next."

"Hello, I'd like a marriage license."

"In what names?"

"David Deets."

"And the other man?"

"That's all. I want to marry myself."

"Marry yourself? What do you mean?"

"Well, my psychiatrist says I have a dual personality, so I want to marry
the two together. Maybe I can file a joint income-tax return."

"That does it! I quit!! You people are making a mockery of marriage!!"

Yep. And this thread is a two-fer. We get to go after Mormons AND gays. I especially love attacking them when they take a morally correct stand. It is so much fun being with the vocal core of folks who get to pass judgment on everyone else. It’s kind of like being God, isn’t it?

The anti-Mormon (and everyone else who might be “different”) crown isn’t very bright. Fortunately for them, the Mormons will feed them after the next disaster. You’ll probably still complain.

So when can we go after the Jews? You know, I’ve heard they COMPLETELY ignore the new testament.

We get to go after Mormons AND gays.

Merely a subset of the bigger SIN set.

I'm sorry you have managed to MISS the important part!!

(It applies to any LDS members of that Organization® based in SLC; too.)

“OMM will show up and say something loving about Baptists!”

He’s providing good service. As you know, some Baptists are....different. You know what I mean?
We can’t have that, can we?

It’s kind of like being God, isn’t it?

Yup!

NIV 1 Thessalonians 2:4
On the contrary, we speak as men approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please men but God, who tests our hearts.

NIV 2 Corinthians 13:2-3
 2.  I already gave you a warning when I was with you the second time. I now repeat it while absent: On my return I will not spare those who sinned earlier or any of the others,
 3.  since you are demanding proof that Christ is speaking through me. He is not weak in dealing with you, but is powerful among you.

NIV 1 Peter 4:11
If anyone speaks, he should do it as one speaking the very words of God. If anyone serves, he should do it with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

NIV Romans 15:18
I will not venture to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in leading the Gentiles to obey God by what I have said and done--

NIV 2 Corinthians 2:17
Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, like men sent from God.

NIV 2 Corinthians 11:6
I may not be a trained speaker, but I do have knowledge. We have made this perfectly clear to you in every way.

NIV Philippians 1:14
Because of my chains, most of the brothers in the Lord have been encouraged to speak the word of God more courageously and fearlessly.

NIV 1 Peter 3:15-16
 15.  But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,
 16.  keeping a clear conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of their slander.
