Democrat Steps Back From Call to 'Socialize' Oil Refineries

Reps. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) and Maurice Hinchey (D-N.Y.) have said in recent weeks that U.S. oil refineries should be "socialized" -- that is, nationalized and run by the federal government. But Waters apparently is now backing away from those comments.

In speaking to oil company executives at a May 22 hearing of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Waters tried to hold her tongue but nonetheless said: "This liberal will be all about socializing, uh, uh ... would be about basically taking over and the government running all of your companies."

At a June 18 press conference, Rep. Hinchey said he supported Waters' view. "Should the people of the United States own refineries?" he said. "Maybe so. Frankly, I think that's a good idea. Then we could control the amount of refined product much more capably that gets out on the market."

But Michael Levin, communications director for Waters, told Cybercast News Service on Friday that Waters did not mean what she said.

"Should the people of the United States own refineries?"

Yes, that is why we do not want them run by commissars in Washington D.C.

Mad Maxine and the other Dimocratz can backpedal all they want, but we all know they want to nationalize petroleum and refinery operations. Then they will go for electricity production and distribution. Then coal.

Buy a couple of donkeys and some carts before they’re sold out. Gotta get around somehow.

The Dems spilled their socialistic beans and now are treading water because the proof is out. Don’t fall for their backtracking.

What has happened here is that the reds and the loonies have come out of the closet.

Waters has always been a communist/marxist, though we don’t know if she was a CPUSA party member.

Hinckey is just plain crazy.

Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich) has been a red since the 50’s. His record of this is so long that you couldn’t print it all here.

THe original “oil nationalization” propound was former Rep. Charles O. Porter (D-Wa), a man with long ties to the Communist Party. He began one nationalization push in the 1970’s and again in the 80’s.

Let’s face it: reds like to control every aspect of your life, business, thoughts.

Both are members of the CPC founded by Bernie Sanders to promote socialism in Congress.

They don’t even hide it.

Socialism and Fascism all bound up in the same twisted thinking.

Stated as a true “Progressive”.....progress toward socialism and push to centralized control, and the demise of capitalism.

Ask not what your country can do for you, but rather what your government can do to you.

This is an example of what happens when conservatives take liberals to task and make their words stick to them. Liberalism has never been the mainstream it is a stealth movement protected only so much as it is surrounded by a cloud of vagueness and empty dis-associative statements.

High gas prices does not mean the people want the federal government to have more money through windfall profits taxes or nationalizing oil refineries. What we see is the exact opposite when the citizen is informed of the the options is a huge majority in support increased drilling and energy alternatives such as expansion of nuclear power. The devil is in the details and it is the details which should be used to hang the Democrat party today.

It's toooooooooooooooo late. We all now know what some of you Dims would like to do. However, you all DO realize that the "rubes" and other "little people" have not come around to your way of thinking yet.

It was fitting that someone who had to stop right in the middle of her rant, to gather her thoughts, and couldn't even put two sentences together, would call for the "liberal" "socializing" of Big Oil.

Total idiocy was on display for the world to see.

I wouldn't trust her to run my coffee mug full of spare change. Oil companies? Bwaaaaahhhh Haaaaaaahhh Haaaaaaahhhh!

Maxine, dear...could you float a man-made island out into deep water, go miles down, and find and extract crude from the ocean floor, without spilling any?

snicker......
