Psychoanalyzing “God and the War on Terror”
Cross Action News ^ | 6-26-08 | Mark D. Tooley

In his new book, Anglican priest and psychoanalyst Jeremy Young reveals how the “abusive” God of the Bible, who was like a wife-beating husband to His Jewish and Christian followers, is the sordid inspiration for the endless U.S. War on Terror. Called “The Violence of God and the War on Terror,” Young’s revelation understandably is getting appreciative reviews from the Religious Left on both sides of the Atlantic.

At least in this country we don't subsidize the Episcopalian Church.

Thank you James Madison.

The author is a psychoanalyst who specializes in cases of domestic abuse - his entire methodology is to shoehorn all of Western culture and current events into his field.

If a food critic were to write a book about how Judaism, Christianity and the Iraq War were analogous to a diner getting a new owner who wanted menu changes that were unpopular with customers he would be laughed at for such a ridiculous and self-serving analysis.

They most certainly do believe in God. According to their theology, they see God every time they look in a mirror.

The people that attend these liberal churches are not even Christian (poor souls)!!!!

From various Anglican churches etc, where they have embraced the homosexual agenda etc, they might just as well eat drink and be merry, because God will not hear their twisted prayers.

Yes God will hear them and answer them fine, once they invite Jesus in to their lives and stop supporting abortion homosexuality etc.

Nutcases like this author have driven believers out of the Anglican church. Does the Left believe in God? The answer, generally, is no. Long ago Cicero wrote in the Tusculan Disputations, “Nobody, without great hopes of immortality, would ever court death for the sake of his country.” You don’t find the Left lining up to join the military, do you?

Interesting observation, and quite telling, in my opinion...

Maybe the good Reverend could psychoanalyze what makes people fly jet liners into office buildings. After all, there wouldn’t be a war on terror if it wasn’t for that behavior.

In escaping his addiction to drink, Bush gained sobriety through religion rather than self-examination. This repression leads inevitably to scapegoating. Bush the repressed former drinker cannot relent in his demonization of America’s enemies, lest he abandon his “psychological defenses.” This emotional “hobbling of the leader of the so-called ‘free-world’ is alarmingly hazardous for the peace of humankind............think about it.
