North America's 1st carbon tax rolls out under fire Fri Jun 27, 2008 8:57am EDT

VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Reuters) - Civic leader Scott Nelson says he is as worried as anyone about global warming, but that does not make him happy to be one of the first North Americans to pay a carbon tax to curb climate change.
Nelson, mayor of Williams Lake, British Columbia, says record high energy prices mean that the levy, for all its good intentions, could not come at a worst time for residents in his community, a lumber and ranching town about 525 km (340 miles) north of Vancouver.
"The last thing they need now is a tax on top of these soaring prices to add insult to injury," said Nelson, predicting that a taxpayer revolt will eventually scuttle the new tax, which takes effect on July 1.

I maybe just slow but I've yet to "hear" the rationalization for this so called carbon or global warming tax.
If I have to pay a tax, how does my $$ help? I mean is someone building giant air scrubbers or something?
It's not like I intentionally go out of my way to pump more gases into the atmosphere (note: my fiance may disagree with me here). So how does this tax save everyone and convince the Sun to "chill a bit" ?

There is absolutely NO PROOF that man is the cause of climate change — yet since it is not easily proved or disproved, the libs jumped on this one to turn it into a money-generating scam. Just go back and look at what the Arch Bishop of the Church of Global Warming, the Right Reverend Algore has done, including starting his OWN CARBON CREDITS COMPANY... these charlatan criminals are all of the same ilk.
The earth’s climate has been cooling and warming since the earth was formed. Never mind scientific fact -— just the libs and acadamecians who can profit from the scam to get money and grants for the study of this scam....it is just another shining feature of the criminal left.
Problem with the global warming scam is that all the liberal globalist free-trader business-socialists are all on board with the eco-whackos.
It was obvious all along that this was about a tax. All the hype and garbage was to prepare our minds full of mush for the big tax.
