Michelle Obama addressed the Gay and Lesbian Leadership Council Gala in New York City Thursday night and renewed her husband's promise to repeal federal policies that she says limit the rights of gays and lesbians.
"Barack believes that we must fight for a world as it should be. A world where together we work to reverse discriminatory laws like D.O.M.A. (Defense of Marriage Act) and Don't Ask Don't Tell," Mrs. Obama said, addressing an audience of 250 people at a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee.
D.O.M.A stipulates that states are not required to recognize same sex marriages, even if the marriages are recognized in another state. The law also states that the federal government define marriage as a legal union between a man and a woman. "Don't Ask Don't Tell", as it is commonly called, allows gay men and women to serve in the military but it prevents them from talking about their sexuality openly.

In the interview below, Sinclair talks and answers questions about what transpired from end of press conference to present. He will remain in Deleware to appear in court on July 3rd. Says charges are not true. Says he has never run from charges against him, and will appear on July 3.

Wonder how the “cling to their religion” crowd is going to feel about this? I’ve read that he is making a serious dent into the evangelical vote. Will actions like this and his wife’s claim that he will repeal the Defense of Marriage Act change their minds at all?
Stupid of the Obamas to get involved in this. Although Larry Sinclair’s accusations appear fabricated at this point, this act only lends support to them, might raise if the Obamas are being blackmailed. Somebody is giving Obama bad advice and not just on this issue. After the Rev. Wright fiasco and the promise of change, Obama turns to Eric Holder and Doyle. Somebody is giving Obama bad advice.
