Jennifer Hecht, education director at the Stop AIDS Project in San Francisco, said that lack of access to information was a key factor in the increase in infection rates.

“In a lot of ways this is connected to the administration’s policy of emphasizing abstinence-only education,” she said. “And the high rates we see among black men and other minorities indicate that it’s very much connected to larger issues like poverty and racism.”

Is this really true? We’ve been hearing about condoms and “safe sex” for over 20 years now. Is she serious, that the message hasn’t penetrated because of Bush?

It’s just hard to believe that she can say with a straight face that lack of access to information about how AIDS is spread, and what to do to prevent infection is a cause of this.

“...connected to larger issues like poverty and racism.”
And global worming and being forced off native tribal lands in the suburbs, the decline of the dollar, aspartamine and fluoride in the water, tobacco companies, tight shoes.
But more (Aids Education) money will cure all. And I type all this with straight fingers.

The left is highly practiced at making obscenely ludicrous comments with a straight face. There are two absolute requirements for being a leftist. One must be an utter hypocrite and thoroughly shameless. Don’t be surprised when these people exhibit both, to a degree which would make normal people unable to show their faces in public.

These people are blatantly lying. It’s not about lack of access to information. They say that to get more funding for “new” programs that keep them employed.

It’s about gay men wanting to catch HIV on purpose because you can’t be a real gay unless you are HIV+. It is about gay men not wanting to wear condoms when they engage in sodomy because it’s a ‘pain in the ass’. /semi-sarc
