Rev. Kirbyjon Caldwell, the minister who presided over the recent marriage of President Bushs daughter Jenna, has launched a pro-Barack Obama Web site sharply critical of conservative stalwart James Dobson.
Caldwell, leader of the largest Methodist congregation in the country, launched his James Dobson Does Not Speak For Me site a day after Dobsons Focus on the Family radio program aired a statement charging that Obama distorted the Bible to fit his own confused theology.
The site urges readers to sign a statement declaring that Dobson does not represent them.
The statement reads in part:
James Dobson doesn't speak for me.
He doesn't speak for me when he uses religion as a wedge to divide.
He doesn't speak for me when he speaks as the final arbiter on the meaning of the Bible

The Bushes obviously need to find a new church.
Bushs’ Fault!
This should come as no surprise. Jenna is reaching out to people who will be nice on the surface, but will really never accept her.
Any more than you speak for me, numbn*ts.
Its called an opinion, clearly something leftists, methodists and otherwise, have difficulty tolerating.
It’s a black thing.
... and at least Dobson’s opinions are scripturally defensible.
IF,IF, IF, this man gets into office, WE WILL deserve what WE GET!!!!!!!God Bless America.
This guy is out of Houston, not exactly a Crawford local.....how the heck did Jenna find him?

fixed it
Does the Bush family even know a conservative?

Not since 6/5/04.
He doesn’t speak for me when he speaks as the final arbiter on the meaning of the Bible ”
But, Reverend Caldwell, weren’t there some specific theological statements and questions that Obama and Dobson had their exchange about? Maybe you could enlighten us concerning your views on those specifics, rather issuing such a sweeping and highly unspecific statement.
Do the Bushes really go to this church? They display nothing but white people on every single one of their web pages!!
I thought the Bushes would be more inclusive.
But Obama's record on abortion is extreme. He opposed the ban on partial-birth abortion -- a practice a fellow Democrat, the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan, once called "too close to infanticide." Obama strongly criticized the Supreme Court decision upholding the partial-birth ban. In the Illinois state Senate, he opposed a bill similar to the Born-Alive Infants Protection Act, which prevents the killing of infants mistakenly left alive by abortion. And now Obama has oddly claimed that he would not want his daughters to be "punished with a baby" because of a crisis pregnancy -- hardly a welcoming attitude toward new life.
Why on earth would anyone think Jenna picked him?
How much churchgoing in Houston has she done in the last eight years?
We all either forgot or tried to suppress the fact that we elected the least offensive liberal in the 2000 race. We may not even be that fortunate in 2008.
Dobson, Caldwell, nor Obama speak for me.
I certainly, in some ways can’t disagree with you. However, in lieu of yesterday’s Supreme Court decision, I am glad we have had him.
I am disappointed in Kirbyjon Caldwell, Armstrong Williams and all the other black Christians, and/or conservatives who are saying that they are supporting Obama because he is black. I thought they were Christians and/or conservatives who happened to be black, but they are not. At least they have revealed themselves for who they are.
Someone raised the issue recently why the Minister of the Methodist Church they attended (and will attend) in Dallas didn’t perform the wedding.
It was a good question then, and an even better question now.
“This guy is out of Houston, not exactly a Crawford local.....how the heck did Jenna find him?”
In fairness, Jenna hasn’t really ever lived in Crawford, either. It has only been a Bush vacation home since it was built.
You got that right. Kirbyjohn Caldwell = racist.
Furthermore, Obama was recently quoted as saying there were “many ways” people can get to Heaven.
If he believes that, then it’s conclusive . . he’s NOT a Christian.
“How much churchgoing in Houston has she done in the last eight years?”
You know Jenna well, yes?
What an snarky remark to make.
(my apologies if I misunderstand that remark.)
Finally, a website for all the Dr. Dobson hating freepers to gather.
I have lost respect for all conservatives who have said they may vote for Obama just because he's black.
LOL!
Kirbyjohn prayed a great prayer at Bush’s inauguration. This is disappointing.
And I remember just catching grief from Moderators for having the audacity to hammer away at other freepers fawning over that ‘wonderful wedding’.
I would not be surprised to see Jenna create a Pro Obama website.
Just another phony guilt ridden White liberal looking for a way to publicly atone for his “sin” of marrying a Republican couple. Does anyone find it curious that this came out AFTER the wedding and his name got craved into the history books?
"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God."
- Matthew 5:9
Hi Warriormom,
First, if your screenname means what I think it means, that you are the mom of one who served(s) or you are a mom who served(s), thank you and your son/daughter for your/their service.
Second, this here Freeper is a Christian Conservative Republican, American male "black". The first three are by choice, and the last three are by birth.
I guarantee you, in the strongest way I know how, there is NO WAY that this "C.C.R.A.M.B." is voting for He Who Must Not Be Middle Named, nor whoever is his peep (errr....Veep), nor any democrat. Not gonna do it...not gonna go there...never would it be prudent at ANY juncture.
another pro abortion “Christian” minister-pastor-rev.
With a name like “Kirbyjon” as a first name...whodathunkit! :)
Oh I see now!
Senior Pastor Kirbyjon Caldwell is pro abortion and a racist.
He a “person of color”.
The big question to me is does the Bush family want to know a conservative.
Caldwell have been a long time spiritual adviser to Bush. Before the wedding he already had declared his support for Obama.
I know I’ve heard this name before. This guy has been affiliated with the Bushies for some time now.
There’s still knee-jerk deniers of the obvious:
Jenna has never lived in Houston.
Most people who take their religion seriously want to be married either by their pastor, or by a close friend or mentor. There’s no report that Rev. Kirbyjohn was either to Jenna.
So he’s a family friend at best. Which squares with the initial analysis that Jenna has at best a passing interest in matters ecclesiastical.
James Dobson doesn’t speak for me.
He doesn’t speak for me when he uses religion as a wedge to divide.
I betcha that Reverend Wright fellow is a closer match though.
