Bill Clinton is so bitter about Barack Obama's victory over his wife Hillary that he has told friends the Democratic nominee will have to beg for his wholehearted support.
Mr Obama is expected to speak to Mr Clinton for the first time since he won the nomination in the next few days, but campaign insiders say that the former president's future campaign role is a "sticking point" in peace talks with Mrs Clinton's aides.
The Telegraph has learned that the former president's rage is still so great that even loyal allies are shocked by his patronising attitude to Mr Obama, and believe that he risks damaging his own reputation by his intransigence.
A senior Democrat who worked for Mr Clinton has revealed that he recently told friends Mr Obama could "kiss my ass" in return for his support.
A second source said that the former president has kept his distance because he still does not believe Mr Obama can win the election.
Mr Clinton last week issued a tepid statement, through a spokesman, in which he said he "is obviously committed to doing whatever he can and is asked to do to ensure Senator Obama is the next president of the United States ".

Barack Obama must 'kiss my ass' for his support He'd have to do far more for my support. But I'm pretty sure that he's not interested in upholding traditional American values any more than I'm interested in kissing HIS ars.

I just love British news sources.
When you get past the fact that most of it is tabloid gossip, they can really come up with a goodie!
Can you imagine if an American news agency came up with a headline like that???
lololol
Would never happen.

Slick is really mad about the end of the clintoon era. Even if Obambi loses in November and Hillary runs again in 2012, the clintoons will never again be in the WH.

“A second source said that the former president has kept his distance because he still does not believe Mr. Obama can win the election.”
I believe this. I think Clinton does not want Obama to win either, but if he thought it was inevitable or even probable, he would back him enthusiastically to maintain his influence.
Clinton, who is an astute observer of politics, will certainly endorse Obama, but he does not want to become closely associated with what he and any savvy political observer (who is willing to speak candidly-a rarity right now) knows. Obama will need to run a perfect campaign just to win 10 states. If he runs the kinkd of campaign I think he will, he is in danger of a record blowout. He is not going to win the election i either case, and Clinton wants to be able to cut him loose and say “I told you so” the morning after the election. Then he and Hillary will begin to prepare for 2012.

Obama’s a nutcase, but he’s not stupid enough to want Bubba Clinton’s “wholehearted support”. Even if it came without the “kiss Bubba’s ass” price tag.

Heh, Bill Clinton risking something that he lost via his own actions a long time ago?

Bill still has a perfect record (0%) campaigning for other people. (I discount Hillary's Senate runs because she did not allow him to stump for her).
If Obama is smart, he'll kiss Bill's butt to get him to campaign for McCain!

Well come on now that global ‘climate control and poverty’ fund took a big hit in the bottom line.... for the Clintons it is allll about the money. And how many Republicans are going to send nickles and dimes the Clintons way to clear off all that debt they loaned to her campaign.

Remember what he told his mother Virginia - when she asked why he wanted to marry Hilary?

No - not our Bill - he just wanted to run his mouth!!!!

It would be funny if one of you puts that picture on this thread with the caption: Obama kisses Bills ass.

There's a whole bunch of Clintonistas who can't be too happy about Obama’s candidacy, either. I think they were outmaneuvered by another, perhaps smarter, group in the Democratic Party.
