The "naked sushi" trend — you know, the one "Sex and the City" Samantha latched onto in the hit movie as a way of tantalizing her boyfriend — has been bait for geisha partygoers in Japan for centuries.

Now, it's catching on in Florida, according to The St. Petersburg Times.

A club in Clearwater has attracted open-mouthed patrons after adopting the tradition, which involves serving raw fish delicacies straight off the body of a barely clothed woman.

I haven't watched "Sex and the City" but have read a bit of the hype. Enough to be familiar with the characters. I can hardly imagine that associating the character "Samantha" with "raw fish" would drive one to want to east anything at all.

How about you Freepers? Want to eat raw fish off a naked chick you don't know? I suppose I've done worse...but it was a lot more fun!

I don’t watch TV and haven’t seen “Sex and the City”, but I *did* Google to get context...

My poor tired mind has now boggled. I’d rather chow down to a plate of Eukanuba Dog Chow with my favorite German Shepherd than eat raw fish off the naked body of that well-aged strumpet! ‘Strewth! Some images are just not worth imagining.

Eeeew. Blech. Every so often something comes along that reminds me how different Japanese culture is from our own. Sumo wrestling - where massively fat men use their blubber to knock each other down - is another one of these things.

Some lawyer is probably awaiting far more eagerly than I, I’ll bet.

No relation to the main subject but I had to smile when I read what you would rather do than what the main subject was discussing. My two German Shepherd pups (7months old) are laying here at my feet as I type this. I don't think they enjoy FR as much as I do but they just came in from an hour of fun outside so they are resting.

I had an old girlfriend that started this whole craze I bet...except for the actual raw fish part. It just seemed like thats what it was.

Can you tell the difference?

Reminds me of the old shrimp/dead girl in the morgue joke that can’t be repeated publicly on FR...

(big grin!) 7 mos old is a great age for GSD pups! Mine is 4 yrs old now, a lovely girl. But there are some things that are best not shared with GSDs, and one of those things is food. They have the talent of eating down to its bare essentials: it’s usually over with really fast, in a flash of huge gleaming ivory teeth and long supple pink tongue, with enough slobber to get the job done and it is seldom a pretty sight...

I remember scenes like this in old Hollywood Biblical movies, during the orgy scene right before the depraved people were destroyed by God, if I’m not mistaken.

I love sushi and I love women, but not at the same time, thank you.

Unfortunately, depravity is rampant nowadays.

This sushi on a woman’s body is NOT a century old Japanese tradition as far as I know — and I have lived here for 22 years now.

Actually the first time I heard of it was from a story about a German restaurant who had started offering it. That was about three or four years ago.

I don’t underestimate the Japanese capacity for wierdness, but I think this doesn’t count.

The ritual known in Japanese as “Nyotaimori” (which means “female body presentation”) originated in Japan hundreds of years ago as part of the geisha scene, historians say.

So strange. I am old enough to remember the beginnings of the original women’s rights movement. It claimed to be all about treating women with dignity and not merely as sex objects. Women are more debased today in our society than they have ever been in my lifetime. And most of the debasing originates with the women themselves.

The last time women were as debased in society as now was in the Roman Empire, prior to the rise of Christianity
