CAMP HUMPHREYS, South Korea The top U.S. military commander in South Korea plans steps to ensure U.S. forces are ready to counter any Iraq-style insurgency tactics that North Korea might try to use in a conflict on the peninsula.
In a brief interview with Stars and Stripes on Friday, U.S. Forces Korea commander Gen. Walter Sharp said he thinks its likely North Korea has been keeping close watch on the tactics used by insurgents in Iraq and would no doubt hope to use them against South Korea and its American ally.
"I do believe that North Korea is taking lessons out of Iraq, and they will change and adapt tactics," Sharp said.

Ping!
I’m not getting this article. “Iraq-style insurgency tactics” are essentially a passive way of fighting a benevolent occupying force. A war on the Korean peninsula would be a very traditional conflict, with the North Korean army on the offensive using tanks and artillery like real armies.
I get that the North Koreans are so brainwashed that they could likely find some suicide bombers in the population, but any war there would look nothing like Iraq.
Wouldn’t the DPRK “insurgents” need some food first, before worrying about planting IEDs, shooting American or ROK patrols or causing other trouble? My nearest strip mall has a larger economy than North Korea.
Wave food at the enemy at the border posts and within week there will be mass surrenders all along the borders!
Kagogi mashi-sao!
I think trained and brainwashed DPRK cadre could be well positioned to actually blow themselves up for the Great Leader. Instead of Allah and virgins waiting, their motivation might be that their relatives left behind would be given a larger apartment or a few more kilos of rationed meat per month.

Interesting thought........thanks for pinging me.
