Obama defends his patriotism; McCain and Clark trade shots (Dems Trash Col "Bud" Day)

INDEPENDENCE, MO. -- Sen. Barack Obama said Monday that no candidate should use patriotism as a "political sword" in the presidential race, vowing to push back against charges that he is not fervent about his country.

Yet even as Obama repeated his call for a new brand of politics that avoids personal attacks, the day was dominated by an old-style clash over the military credentials of his Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain.

Air Force Col. George E. "Bud" Day, a Medal of Honor recipient who was McCain's cellmate in North Vietnam, said Clark's "backhanded slap" was "one of the more surprising insults in my military history." Day was a member of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group that led a campaign to challenge accounts of Kerry's performance in Vietnam.

Day rejected a comparison between the work of the "Swift boat" veterans and the comments by Clark.

"The Swift boat, quote, attacks were simply a revelation of the truth; the similarity does not exist here," Day said.

From a related story:

"A very indecent thing," said retired Air Force Col. Bud Day.

Day's participation on conference call spawned a new round of broadsides as the Democratic National Committee rushed to point out that Day had appeared in the so-called Swift Boat TV ads that cast aspersions during the 2004 election on the medals Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry earned in Vietnam. Committee spokesman Damien LaVera said McCain himself had called the Swift Boat ads "dishonest and dishonorable."

This is outrageous.

Colonel "Bud" Day is Medal of Honor recipient. He was McCain's cell mate in Hanoi. Colonel Day was literally crucified by the North Vietnamese. His arms and legs were crippled due to being hung, beated, and dislocated.

Col George "Bud" Day

Day is one of the most decorated men in military history.

The "Swift Boat" ads were true. The Democrats and the MSM still cannot get over that fact.

That they would trash a hero simply because he responded to the outrageous attack of Gen Clark is evidence of how evil these people truly are.

And this is the plan: Let Obama's attack dogs go after McCain while Comrade Obama himself rises above the fray (with a little help from his MSM friends) You could put a thousand American flags as a backdrop for this charlatan and it still wouldn't change the fact that he is a Marxist.

Gen. Wesley Clark is a liberal-to-the-bone DhimmiRat, and uses the LibTard playbook freely. This unconscionable attack on McCain’s service is an example.
I’m no great fan of John McCain, but... I’d rather have his record, his service, his experience in the role of President than a former (incompetent, as it turns out) Constitutional law professor with absolutely no service record, who is in the middle of his FIRST term in the US Senate, with NO legislative initiatives to his name, and who espouses only socialist solutions to the nation’s issues.
I rather imagine Gen Clark was jockeying for the VP nod...

He's a despicable coward.

As soon as the heat gets turned up for something Obama's been associated with, he cuts and runs.

It's too bad we didn't have Gen. Clark around back in 1960 to point us in the right direction when everyone was all a-flutter about a Massachusetts Senator and his bravery during World War II.

Like the Rev Wright-—If JW is a Christian then I am confused as to the definition of Christianity

For BO—if he is a Patriot then I am also confsed as to the meaning of the word “Patriotism”

Senator Barack Obama doesn't have so much as a Girl Scout merit badge and he's going after Senator John McCain (Captain, US Navy-Retired) and Col. Bud Day, the most highly decorated servicemember alive?! I'll bet they'd go after Audie Murphy, George Patton and Alvin York if they were alive today!!

The Dems are just trying to take McCain off of the real issues, such as, Congress's failure to allow drilling.

McCain should just stick to solutions for problems that government can fix, and not let the other side control the conversation.

Hey, but he has a wristband! Wonder if it's the same black wristband mentioned in this article, The war of the wristbands .

...black wristband given to him by Tracy Jopek, the mother of Sergeant Ryan David Jopek who was killed aged 20 in August 2006 by a roadside bomb, thrusting the campaign spotlight back to the United States' failing war. Whatevuh!

Hmmm... 57 states, could that be a message? Is Obama considering Teresa Heinz (57 varieties) as VP?

"Sen. Barack Obama said Monday that no candidate should use patriotism as a 'political sword' in the presidential race..."

Of course he did--because that's where Obama is vulnerable.

I question Obama's patriotism!

To rephrase Saxby Chambliss' celebrated rejoinder:

We're not just questioning your judgment, Barack. We're questioning your patriotism too!

"...vowing to push back against charges that he is not fervent about his country."

Oh he's fervent about his country all right. He hates the U.S.A. When he talks about change what he means is destroying America and remaking into something more to his liking.

As many have reasoned: if Obama's adoration of the United States is so fervent--why is he so red hot to change it?

BTW, the word fervent means burning passion, hot enthusiasm, or literally red hot with heat. It's derived from the Latin word fervere, which means to boil.

For B.O. HUSSEIN, the flags would more appropriately reflect HIM if they were each all Red with a Hammer and Sickle on each. He is a desecration to the Flag of Our United States and he knows it. B.O. HUSSEIN’S Idea of Change is to turn Us into another Venezuala!

Every time this anti-American, closet Muslim POS appears beside the flag, he wipes his ass with it.
