Where’s the leak? They can’t report what they don’t know about.

And yet they got all bent out of shape about Valerie Plame’s name getting out.

Pres. Bush's past repeated tolerance of treason has begotten more treason.
Does anyone really think anything different will happen this time?

Instead of just getting mad, why doesn’t the administration bring criminal charges against the leakers? I would also like to know if they got paid to leak. If so, then I think the Times could face criminal charges for bribing someone to violate the law.

Just like you can’t yell “Fire” in a crowded movie theater and expect Freedom of Speech to protect you, neither should the Press have the Freedom of divulging our national secrets.

This has to stop.

And what’s our AG doing about this?

C’mon, W, grow a pair and jail these people. You’ll be back in Crawford next January anyway.

It’s time we had a court case that can define just what special constitutional powers the press actually has.

Once again, sadly, I merely say “Refer to my tagline”. Just a simple sentence that says so very much. The TIMES remains the greatest threat to its beloved “First Amendment”.

“Where’s the leak? They can’t report what they don’t know about.”

I’ll bet a month’s pay that the leak source is one of the Democrats on the Intelligence Committee.

Democrats DO NOT want bin Laden to be taken out under Bush.

They will do anything, even commit treason to prevent a Bush success.

My money’s on JAY ROCKEFELLER as the leak source.

It’s time we had a court case that can define just what special constitutional powers the press actually has.

We did. It was the Pentagon Papers case in 1971 and the New York Times won.

The published documents helped to harden public opposition to the war in Vietnam, and the Times has been at it periodically ever since. Prior restraint of publication by the government requires an extraordinarily high standard, as it should. Absent a declaration of war, the media can publish pretty much whatever is leaked to them. It is the duty of the Administration (the Executive) to stop the leaks, which it is within their power to do. The problem has been that they will not do it.

We should at least be open to the possibility that the Administration fed this information to the media on purpose. The howling is part of the act.

I think that is very unlikely. But because he’s done nothing in the prior instances, he will be criticized if he does anything now. And because they have apparently leaked such info in the past, they will be criticized for prosecuting it now.

“Where’s the leak? They can’t report what they don’t know about.”

Exactly, the order should go down that any leaker of classified information will be skinned alive. I could picture this happening during an FDR administration.

Ah good, the Times is giving an assist to the radical Islamic forces in Pakistan. At the same time they trash Bush and the WOT effort to assist Obama. A twofer!!!

I think Rockefeller is the designated leaker of the dems. They are all involved. Remember pelosi’s trip to syria with slaughter and lantos? Their duty was to incite the kurdish terrorists to attack turkey from iraq and to screw up our fragile relationship with the turks, thus disrupting our supply and logistics for the war.

Classified military data during war time certainly rises to that standard, and beyond. Can't do prior restaint? OK. How about arresting and indicting the bastards the minute they publish it?

New York Times again exposes “highly classified Pentagon order”

Did I see the following statement on the New York Times website?

The New York Times editorial board feels confident that their most recent decision to print a highly classified Pentagon order is justified and in the public's interest. But Americans can rest comfortably in their beds tonight, secure in the knowledge that if Valerie Plame had been involved in this story, it would never have seen the light of day. The New York Times believes that protecting the identities of attractive blonde publicity-seeking employees of the CIA is a responsibility of the highest order in today's U.S.-tormented world.

I'd personally be in favor of tarring, feathering, and publicly pillorying the SOB's at the Times. The problem is that we are not technically "at war" in the sense that it is undeclared and directed against a non-state enemy. Yet the consequences of publishing military secrets in such a situation is no less dire than if we were in a declared war against a named country. The 1st Amendment still stands, but "freedom of the press" does not shield those who knowingly publish national secrets that are likely to compromise public safety and the lives of our soldiers. It's time some people learned that lesson.
