In a turn of events which signals the beginning of an aggressive outreach to faith based voters, Senator Barack Obama announced that he not only supports the Faith Based and Community Initiative, but that he will expand its reach if he is elected President.
Further, the Democratic candidate indicated that he will support the constitutional right of faith based groups to choose whom they hire and fire based upon the tenets of their deeply held religious convictions.
Many of the Press Reports concerning this stunning announcement have referred to this endorsement of such a significant Policy initiative as a matter of the Democratic candidate for President somehow reaching out to evangelical voters.
However, this may be much more. It may represent the greatest effort of the Obama campaign, at least thus far, to reach out to Catholic voters.
The candidate has a serious problem with Catholics who accept the clear, infallibly declared, unbroken teaching of the Catholic Church that every procured abortion is the taking of an innocent human life, period!
Though Senator Obama has recently referred to abortion as a serious moral concern, he has not backed off his unqualified acceptance of the current approach precipitated by the US Supreme Courts decision in Roe v Wade and its progeny, which legalized abortion throughout the entire nine months of pregnancy, for any reason.
That is absolutely unacceptable. Concern for the poor must begin with protecting the lives of those who have no voice, our youngest neighbors in the first home of the whole human race, their mothers womb....

but right now, they are ‘not going to the right kind of organizations, according to Blowbama. What organizations will Blowbama send them too? Probably far left groups and BLT groups, if his other life choices represent his favored interests.
The GOP should use this as a chance to remind the people of his leftwing organizations - ACORN, BLT, Ayers’ groups, etc.
Of course he wants to expand it — it’s a gov’t program. That’s what politicians (particularly Democrats) do. And he’d undoubtedly expand it to include all sorts of commie groups.
So will this expanded program include promoting suicide bombers?
I see while the Polar Bear may be endangered, Barack the Pander Bear is doing quite well actually...
This is aimed directly at the Chris Matthews Catholic..
As I’ve mentioned on another thread, I’m opposed to tax-payer money going to any faith-based organization. If people want to donate, then there is a mechanism through their own churches to privately do so.
I consider myself a very conservative Catholic, but the federal allocation of revenues for welfare is unconstitutional now matter how you slice it (even if it is given to ostensibly christian people to utilize it). If states want to have welfare programs then fine. Those programs combined with private charity are all that is constitutionally defensible.
“The GOP should use this as a chance to remind the people of his leftwing organizations - ACORN, BLT, Ayers groups, etc.”
Do you suppose that will lead Catholics to overlook McCain’s ties to KLA Mohammedan terrorists and their money and the anti-Christian policy pursued by the present Republican Administration, admittedly inherited from the Clinton Administration, east of the Adriatic?
“So will this expanded program include promoting suicide bombers?”
You are confusing Obama with McCain. McCain’s the candidate who has been publicly thanked for providing arms to the KLA Mohammedan terrorsists.
Why believe Obama? He has no record.
In Turkey, the government pays for the mosques, and gives the imams their sermons every week.
Oh yes he has the Catholic values all right. Revolution Theology. What a dumb bunch. Sheep to the slaughter.
