I doubt if McCain has made a final decision yet. I still can’t think of one state that Romney will deliver for McCain.

With McCain touting the doom and gloom of Gorebal Warming, No to ANWAR, etc I don’t know if it’ll matter much who the VP choice is.

My guess is that McCain will be flying up to Alaska in the next couple of months with Gov. Sarah Palin, to change his position on ANWR. He has hinted something to that effect.

Yes, along with Joe Scarborough, who also decided not to run again at the same time.

You forgot that Kasich ran for president himself.

He was not the candidate of choice of the power brokers, so they leaked stories about a very sordid sexual past, causing him to step out of the race.

I don’t think America needs candidates like that.

As an Ohioan, I warn you to hide your guns so Kasich won’t grab them.

“During the 1996 presidential campaign, Republican nominee Bob Dole was reported to have considered Kasich as a vice presidential running mate but instead selected Jack Kemp, a former congressman and HUD Secretary.[6] However, during his 1996 re-election campaign Kasich’s Democratic opponent in his House race, Cynthia Ruccia, made comments regarding Kasich’s sexuality in an attempt to damage him with conservative voters. Ruccia raised the question of the propriety of bachelor Kasich sharing a Washington townhouse with his male chief-of-staff. He nonetheless won the 1996 election and subsequently married in March of 1997.[7]”

Kasich was a bachelor but should have abstained from sex during those years? He is a politician, not a monk.

Go back and read the news from 1999 presidential race about Kasich, and why he stepped down from his campaign for president.

SF Gate:
Though conservative by reputation, Kasich has worked well with Democrats during his 16 years in Congress. He is a good friend of former Oakland representative Ron Dellums. His scheduled appearance last year at a breakfast fund raiser for Central Valley Democrat Gary Condit, another close friend, so angered the Republican Party establishment that the leadership barred him from addressing the party's convention last month.
Should fit right in with a McCain administration,

Apparently he belonged to the same sex club as Gary Condit (of Chandra Levy murder fame). Do you think that is an appropriate past time for a US Congressmen/presidential candidates? Or are you implying that there are no honorable people for the Republican party to run as candidates?

You do realize that people who compromise themselves in this way are open to blackmail and coercion-- it is a famous technique of the KGB to get politicians in positions such as this to 'cooperate' with them.

I still can’t think of one state that Romney will deliver for McCain.

Conventional wisdom is that he will deliver Michigan and that he could make a difference in states like Nevada and Colorado if the race is close there. Or anywhere else that has a measurable Mormon population, but again only if the race is close.

The big problem with Romney is that if McCain wins, it's essentially a surrender of the White House in 2012. I dont believe Romney is electable as president.
