Although I like Kasich, his exit from congress raises suspicions much like the ones I feel about Mario Cuomo.

“Surely you jest.
Stop calling me Shirley. “

LOL! Leslie Nielsen would be so proud.

I see a lot of innuendo in these posts, but no solid information. Apparently a Democrat opponent started a smear campagin against Kasich? Where’s the beef??

He has made it clear that he is running for Ohio Governor next go-round.

Yes. For leaving Congress, the government-media complex gave him a high visibility/high pay job at Fox news, while they waited for the scandal to pass.

His payback is to invite him back into presidential politics, IMO.

You have the definitive answer as to why McCain doesn’t have Kasich on his VP list: Kasich plans to run for Governor of Ohio in 2010. With the ongoing negativity that’s going on the Republican side throughout Ohio, thanks to past scandals, Kasich would truly represent “new blood” for the Ohio Republican Party, which is something that the Ohio Republicans, at every political level, still desperately need.

He outspent McCain 3-1 in many states and was unable to beat a person most Republicans didn’t particularly care for.

Romney was having to deal with Huckabee taking off a small percentage of the conservative vote, which was keeping him from winning. Head to head Romney would have smoked McCain.

It seriously irritates the hell out of me that McCain is the nominee.

Kasich may have some baggage related to Condit. He wouldn’t take the VP slot. He is also as boring as can be.

I would prefer a governor in the VP slot. Governors have to deal with practical politics on the ground, Senators deal with theory.

Sarah “drill, Baby” Palin or Mitt Romney would be great.

Because of her propensity for outdoor adventure, Sarah could be turned into the next Teddy Roosevelt. She could take the initiative away from the eco-wackos and give a us a great shot at becoming independent of outside oil.

What I would like to know is, why are there no honorable candidates that the Republican party is willing to put up for office?

The better question would be, "Why don't there seem to be very many good Republicans who are WILLING to run for office? My guess is because they'd get raked over the coals, not only by the liberals and the media, but by their fellow Republicans, be they conservative or moderate. Just witness the vitriol flung here during the Republican primary! I can understand why some might be loathe to put themselves and their families through that.

Bobby Jindal is a good example. He does ONE THING that the conservatives in LA disagree with, and they're ready to call for his head on a platter. There is no room for him, or any other Republicans to compromise on anything, even if that is a strategic win for them. Many conservatives bring Ronald Reagan up as someone who stuck to his guns. They have short memories, though, because Reagan compromised quite often. He knew that sometimes you have to let the other guy win a bit in order to get what you ultimately want. Conservatives seem to have forgotten that, and absolutely VILLIFY any Republican who strays from their narrowly defined path.

Oh well, if the San Francisco Chronicle tells me so, it must be true
I know the plan for him to attend the Condit fundraiser is true.

Everything you read that isn't from a conservative blog isn't always a lie.

I like him and wish him well. I did hear him interviewed on Medved a couple of years ago and I got the impression that while he did mention Ohio politics that he was basically over politics. I doubt if he will run.

Sort of like Joe Scarborough, in that he sees how corrupt and hopeless congress is and that they don’t really want to change anything other then spend more money and hire more voters.

I can’t stand O’Reilly. I quit watching him about 5 years ago.
