Even if medicine is socialized, I doubt that any Kennedy will have to wait six months after a seizure to get time in an MRI.

Making sure each American has access to quality, affordable healthcare is the cause of Senator Kennedy’s life.

Except, of course, when you get drunk at a party and take one of your staff to the beach in order to commit adultery with her. Then, by some fluke you happen to drive off of the bridge and into the water, the unforunate byproduct of which is her untimely prolonged agony as she suffocates to death in the car while you swim to shore, change your clothes and pretend the whole thing never happened.

The REAL crux of the matter:

The initiative also suggests that Kennedy ....... is considering his legacy.......

And why it will happen:

"You have got to think this will be the Ted Kennedy Health Reform Act, because he's a beloved figure and he's championed the issue for so long," said John Rother, policy director for the AARP, which has been involved in the discussions.

Providing “quality, affordable” health care by taxing everyone up the yin-yang to pay for third-rate government health care.

Sounds like a plan.

They didn’t get it all, did they?

They seldom get it all... and the type of cancer that he has spreads quickly. What I want is for him to be forced to leave the Senate because of it... then he can live to be 100 for all I care.

Whether it is healthcare, energy or whatever, we need to bring about some level of cost predictability and neither party seems to have any answers.

This article is about what Kennedy’s staff is doing, not what he’s doing. Why don’t the Republicans in the Senate make Senators Byrd, Kennedy and Johnson actually show up and vote. Then we might see whether the Democrats still have a majority. (I know why - because Republicans are afraid to play hardball politics; that’s for the winners.)

I'm sure that in a nationalized health care system that the poor and middle class will have access to the top brain surgeons at Duke and the newest radiology technology at Mass General.

True. I read that Kennedy and his family searched for the best surgeon to do his recent surgery. I would love to know if we all will be able to search and have choices of doctors under socialized medicine? And Kennedy had his surgery done promptly. Will all of us get needed procedures done promptly, or will we be on the waiting list? Will Congress be on the waiting list with us, that’s a good question.

Melissa Wagoner, spokeswoman for Kennedy, added that "Making sure each American has access to quality, affordable healthcare is the cause of Senator Kennedy's life."

Just a couple items Kennedy supports, not for him, but for US:

Teddy supports "affordable" health care, except when it's his health, then it's spare no expense.

Teddy supports wind energy, except when it ever so slightly affects him.

Teddy supports the death tax, except when it's applied to the Kennedy family.

Teddy supports women, until they're in a upside down car drowning and it might embarrass him.

Not sure if socialized medicine is any worse for those without insurance in the current system. Given how retirement plans have gone out the window without even a whimper from the US public, I predict within 10 years healthcare plans will be a memory.

"I want is for him to be forced to leave the Senate"

His brain has been addled by booze for so long that all he can do on his own is read speeches. His staff is running the show. As long as he can perform as Bernie (as in 'Weekend at Bernie's') he will stay in the Senate. I'm sher he could even get elected again, as long as he doesn't smell too bad at rallies.

This whole thing is easy. Simply give every American the same health care plan that members of the Senate have.

He can make a good start on the health plan by having a few needy families share his hospital room while receiving their care.

“The senator is trying to learn from health reform attempts in the past and to build a fair amount of consensus among his Senate colleagues, House colleagues, and the Obama campaign”

Working with Hussein Obama who is just a presumptive nominee at this point.
