The context is following 9/11 when Obama concluded that Muslims in the US were being over investigated and so were put into an “ugly” situation of over-riding fears. Obama criticized the FBI questioners and other government agencies in their work following 9/11. In that context, Obama said that he would stand alongside them to defend them. Obama stated that he did not want them undergoing injustices like unto “Japanese internments during World War II.”

We can read what ever we will into everything. I personally think he is stating the obviouse for the sake that who can disagree with it on face value.
From Obama’s book: “Dreams From My Father” in which he states “The White man will never reconcile with the Black man until we become brothers in Islam”, and, “I have a deep aversion to my Mother’s race”, and, “The person I most admire is my half-brother - he converted to Islam”.

Seems to me he's talking about Muslim American citizens and what side he would take IF things went the way of the Japanese internment.
If there is another 9-11 type attack and some yahoos come to my Muslim neighbors house to do some damage..I'd stand with my Muslim neighbor...with my shotgun.
