Huh? Bush wasn't even the president on Jan 27, 2000. And in Texas we have no state income tax.

That quote needs some 'splaining!

No, he’s not a conservative.

I swore I wouldn’t vote for him if he was the last man on earth.

The problem is, I want Petraeus to finish his work. McCain seems to be the only game in town if I want to keep Petraeus on the job.

If Obama would embrace Petraeus on a public stage, I would gladly sit this one out. McCain and the Repubs who backed his candidacy deserve a resounding loss to Obama. The problem is, I don’t deserve it. So I’ll vote for and hope for a McCain victory in order to avoid a disaster on the war-front, and I’ll prepare for 4 long years of battling McCain to keep him from giving away the farm. He will try to give away the farm, thats his history. Its who he is.

Well it had to be a hypothetical becasue the quote makes no sense whatsoever. And if it's a hypothetical then it's a useless quote.

Highlights from the list:

“In the short term, or even the long term, I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade”

–John McCain, on Roe V. Wade

“I believe my party has gone astray. I think the Democratic Party is a fine party, and I have no problems with it, in their views and their philosophy.”

–John McCain in 2004

“The whole thrust of this legislation is to give them not only Social Security benefits but, as importantly, the protections under the law, as they now live in the shadows and are exploited and mistreated in many cases.”

–John McCain, on immigration April 2, 2004

“I would rather have a clean government than one where quote First Amendment rights are being respected, that has become corrupt. If I had my choice, I’d rather have the clean government.”

–John McCain, on the choices between respecting the Constitution and Bill of Right and McCain-Feingold 4/29/06

There is at least one good thing about John McCain that by itself is reason to vote for him in November: he isn’t Barack Obama.

That's about the only reason to vote for him. OTOH, if he chooses a highly qualified running mate (Romney, Pawlenty, Sanford, for example), I will have another reason to vote for him.

I will hold my nose and vote for McCain. This country cannot afford Barry Obama in any way, shape or manner. And a vote for Barr is a vote for Obama. Gotta wonder if Obama didn't offer Barr some big bucks to be the spoiler. Memories of Bush 41's loss because of Perot taught me a lesson.

We have to continue with the progress in Iraq and we can't afford Barry's trillions in new spending and tax increases.

And how conservative is obama?

I'm sure you can find a thread about that. This one is about McCain and the anti-conservative positions he has previously taken. There is no real conservative, or even moderately conservative candidate in this election.

The quote is useless. And McCain wanted the tax cuts with a stipulation of a spending decrease. So do/did I.

?

Those seem to be honest, factual quotes representing the liberal political philosophy of Sen. John McCain.

It’s better to know now what you are voting for come November, then to say you were never warned.

We have the choice between to candidates McCain and Obama that are that not that far apart politically.

The only plus in McCain’s column is that he served his country honorably and is the lesser of two evils.

There are two differences we have. I do not trust him at all as he has flip-flopped his positions by audience too much and I don’t drink, so I won’t be getting drunk enough to pull the lever for him in November. They do say the Dims all get prettier at closing time, perhaps that will help him, but I doubt it.

Listen my friend, McCain is a pain in the ash but the damage he will do can be repaired. The damage the alternative scumbag will do can never be fixed.

I believe the opposite is true. The one issue facing the U.S. that cannot be reversed by any future action is amnesty. 25+ million poor, uneducated, government dependents will swell the ranks of Democrat voters to such a degree that Republicans will have little chance in any future national election. We will be governed by one socialist party. If Obama is elected there is at least a chance that enough Republicans in the Senate will stop an amnesty bill. Republicans seem to do best in opposition. If McCain is elected, he will support full amnesty, as he always has, and Republican Senators will not stand up against "their" president to stop it.

I can see both sides, but this is the scenario I think is most likely.

I agree, your comment echoes my own views.

McCain is NO conservative: he is a Republican.

I also swore I’d sit the election out (the first time in my life), if McCain was nominated.

However, I will probably pull the lever for him—if I can keep from gagging.

Obama has absolutely nothing to do with what McCain will accomplish for conservatives as president.

I appreciate the fear of Obama—a search will indicate I’ve done something like 70 anti-Obama stories—but fear of Obama won’t make me be a cheerleader for someone who despises conservatives.
