Thursdays "Today Show" gave yet another demonstration that the mainstream media cant get over the success of Rush Limbaugh. NBC correspondent Michael Okwu, reporting on Limbaughs new contract, which the New York Times has indicated is worth $400 million, "reminded" viewers of three past "controversies" involving the talk radio host: his 2003 resignation from ESPN after remarking on the sport medias coverage of NFL quarterback Donovan McNabb; how Limbaugh mocked Michael J. Fox, "accusing the actor of exaggerating symptoms of Parkinson's Disease;" and the legal trouble he faced in Florida related to his addiction to prescription painkillers.
On this "doctor shopping" issue, Okwu remarked, "In 2003, Florida authorities charged Limbaugh with illegally-deceiving multiple doctors, in order to get overlapping painkiller prescriptions. He pled not guilty and the charges were later dismissed, though Limbaugh admitted he was an addict."

Flawed man with the right message.
The only problem I had with that is that Rush said McNabb was not a good QB. McNabb is a fine QB in the NFL. I always enjoyed watching him play.
And I would like to remind Mr. Okwu that Rush just signed a contract for nearly half a BILLION dollars!!!!!!!
Yes, Okwu, that’s billion with a B!!!
And the Rush-Man gets a $400,000,000 last laugh
No, Meredith, exposing liberals definitely pays off
There, fixed if for you
I live my wealthy life vicariously through Rush so I’m really happy that he and I got the raise. (I hope we get another Gulf Stream!)
“...Rush said McNabb was not a good QB....”
I don’t believe that Rush said exactly that.
He said that the liberal sports media made McNabb into a better QB than he actually was simply because he was black. Rush correctly said that McNabb was a good to very good QB, but by no means a great one.
Rush’s attack was on the politically-correct sportswriters, not on McNabb.
8 Courics.
Way to go Rush!
Yes, but all men (and women)are flawed. That's what makes us human. The main thing is that we learn from our mistakes/short comings. :)
The “Today Show” can just put an ice pack on their ego and get on with life. Hahaha.
Hey, SEOYC. Good to see ya!
I think Rush said McNabb was “overated” and his point really wasn’t about McNabb as much as it was the PC sportswriters.
Lets make that 1,600 Courics. That’s what she’s actually worth. Rush is worth the $400 million.
The MSM desperately wants him off the air. And they WILL NOT stop, if Obambi gets in office. They will provide all the cover necessary to push the “Fairness” doctrine through.
Just a bunch of jealous Liberal hacks exposing their bias for the world to see.
You have mail!
That's not quite accurate. Here's his exact quote: "Sorry to say this, I don't think he's been that good from the get-go. I think what we've had here is a little social concern in the NFL. The media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well."
Rush was dead on accurate. McNabb was never as good as the Drive-By Media made him out to be.
Osama, the Marxist Liberal, would like nothing better than to get FR off the Internet as well. Freedom is in jeopardy, IMO, for these Marxist are all about power, greed, and corruption as well as destroying our freedom.
We have human waste in DC that would love to turn this country into a dictatorship with them in total power.
Sounds like they have tapped some of the MSNBC writers on the flagship channel. Must be getting desperate.
Did they also mention that they somehow ran Rush on a loop that made him appear to be continually shaking, mocking Fox? Bunch of frauds.
Every time you think the MSM has bottomed out, they lower the bar. Bringing up Limbaugh’s past controversies at this time couldn’t better demonstrate the MSM’s small-minded, petty meanness. The beauty of it is that Rush knows just how to read these nasty pot-shots; it’s pure envy.
McNabb is a good but not great QB is accurate.
He was forced to resign because he said the media had a vested interest in seeing McNab succeed. He was right and as usual the media cannot stand to be faced with their own bias.
The left is extremely jealous of and insanely frustrated by Limbaugh and the fact they can do absolutely NOTHING to slow him down.
Despite the hysteria when he admitted his addiction to Oxycontin he played it exactly right. He checked himself in to a rehab, beat his addiction and came back stronger then ever.
What he did this year with his operation chaos is just another thorn in the liberals side and they hate him with the ferocity only a liberal can bring to bear.
“how Limbaugh mocked Michael J. Fox, “accusing the actor of exaggerating symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease;” “
Didn’t Fox admit he went off his meds for that commercial to make that very point? ie, Rush was right?
Did you hear Mr. Limbaugh threaten to buy NBC yesterday.
Excellent idea! Go Rush!!
Like me, Rush loves to be known by who his enemies are.
To have such a great cloud of losers for ones enemies is a GREAT honor and compliment.
Go RUSH!
I’m not the biggest fan of Rush, but there is no doubt he is one of the most successful men in the country. He brings in tens of millions of listeners and been on the air for 20+ years now, I believe. More power to him.
Class envy.
Rush never said McNabb wasn’t a good QB. Rush said McNabb was getting more hype because he was black.
McNabb was, at the time, a good QB. Rush’s comment was inappropriate.
It’s better to say “I don’t think he’s as good as the media makes him out to be until he’s been in or won a Super Bowl.” A lot of national media once said the same things about the Manning brothers. Use an objective yardstick and leave skin color out of it.
Every time the left opens its mouth, the same things pop out...utter hypocrisy and absolute shamelessness.
Do I detect ratings envy on NBC’s part? If Rush went off the air I'd notice within a day but it would probably take weeks for me to notice NBC gone.
That's a pile of Olbermannic proportions.
That's the strategy and if Obama's elected the so-called Fairness Doctrine WILL be passed. It will return us to the Media Dark Ages. The SOB's simply can't STAND real free speech.
But I recall once, years ago, when something similar came up during the Clinton years, Rush threatened to buy a boat and broadcast from beyond the 12-mile-limit. With $400 mil plus what he already has in the bank he could probably buy his own island.
Make that 25,600 Olbermans...
se_ohio_young_conservative is in the post and run mode.
Wish he got 500 million - he deserves it! So looks like there is no chance he’ll run for office - his life is set for awhile.
Liberals have no class so they envy anyone with guts, spine, and anyone that tells the truth which they’re incapable of.
You must not be from the Philadelphia area. My father and step-mother can’t stand the way he plays....
Rush was right about Michael J Fox, however. Fox obviously didn't take his medicine in order to exaggerate the symptoms of his Parkinson`s. IIRC, this came at the time Fox was lobbying Congress for more federal funding for the disease.
And instead of the media showing compassion for Rush`s addiction to the prescription drug oxycontin, the liberal establishment used Rush`s problem to beat him over the head with. Not nice at all.
Let’s just get down to the truth here....NBC sucks big time and El Rushbo doesn’t. Nothing else to be said here.
Has anyone seen a recent definition of the term “Liberal” and how that mind set applies today? I can’t figure them out except they are wrong and extremely dangerous to our freedom. Their mind set is foreign to freedom loving people.
Yep, real class.
“McNabb was never as good as the Drive-By Media made him out to be.”
Neither is Obama. One might suspect the media has an agenda!
Who knew there was such a thing as “Corporate Penis Envy”?
Any way you look at it, even financially, Rush’s is bigger than theirs.
I would know right away, because Rush would be talking about it.
I haven't watched network TV in years.
So every time he opens his jaw and shuts it, I would guess he earns about $700.00 dollars per jaw revolution. Too funny!
