As to the US Census definitions, Obama IS white.

Isn't Colin Powell Jamaican?

So everyone who is not voting for Obama by your definition is a racist? Now isn't that nice. /sarcasm>

I don't care what color he is. I am not voting for Obama, because he is a liberal, and I think thousands feel the same way

I certainly respect your opinion, but I agree with the author that Obama’s race has actually been an asset, that many are overlooking his many shortcomings because of his race.

His race claims are a fraud.

I think someone said it right when they said: If Obama was white, he wouldn't even be in the race.

That was Geraldine Ferraro, and she got slammed for it

Racist? I don’t vote for leftists. I don’t vote for someone who cannot seem to have a position and hold it. I don’t vote for someone who has never held a real job in his life. I don’t vote for some who’s education appears to be more of a gift than deserved...and also who didn’t seem to absorb much of that education. You want a black I’ll vote for? How about Thomas Sowell or Walter Williams. Either could outthink the Obamaloon whilst sleeping. Get off the race kick. Obama is - quite simply - a simpleton. Alas, that’s about all we’re getting from either party lately.

Republicans will vote for the Republican candidate. Democrats will vote for the Democrat candidate and some will vote for the Republican candidate. Independents will lean to McCain who already has independent credentials whereas Obama is a liberal and not even close to the center.

Now the question is, who are the racists? The Republicans who vote for their guy, the Indys who vote for the most centrist candidate or the Dems who vote for the Republican rather than their own candidate.

Ah, but no one ever comes out and talks about blacks being racist because they state the only reason they are voting for Obama is because of his skin color. No, blacks cannot by definition be racist, even if they spout hate from a pulpit (Rev. Wright) or television (Rev. Sharpton). It is the ultimate hypocrisy.

This column did well to point out that Colin Powell stood a great chance had he run against Clinton.

I'm not denying there are pockets of white vs. black racism that still exist in the country, but I still believe that if Obama is NOT elected POTUS it will be because of his total inexperience as opposed to his racial background.

Ann Coulter said that he wouldn’t even be in the race if he weren’t half-black and referred to being half-black as his greatest accomplishment. Ann also said that if he were white he would be,”Dick Durbin with less experience”. I think she was dead on the money.

The racism is within the black community. Last week my sister encountered a hateful black racist while waiting to see her doctor.

She was not talking to him and had her back to him. Out of the blue, he was cursing and saying how much he hates white people and when Obama is elected white people will get what they deserve. My sister isn't as out spoken as I am, but as she told me the story, she stated she could not sit there and take him spewing his hate anymore. In other words, she threw facts at him. Every time, he would spew a lie, she would state a fact. All he did was curse and call her a liar. Before you ask, the man was spewing Wright and Farrakhan nonsense. She went as far as to tell him she would buy him a ticket to go back to Africa since he hates America so much. His reply was, “not until you give my mule and million dollars”. After my tiny little 5'2’ sister stood there taking on this rather large man, some people came into the area they were in...he jumped up and left. Yeah a real tough guy, wouldn't you say?

So if anyone is here trying to place this on White Americans, I may come off as a racist, but I refuse to sit silent any longer on the race issue. Enough is enough.

“Obama is - quite simply - a simpleton”
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I think you are right, it is disgusting to see some clown like Obama put forth as some sort of genius to be fawned over while George W. Bush is depicted as the equivalent of the guy in Deliverance saying,”Ain’t he got a purty mouth”.

" ... There's still a LOT of hidden racial feeling in this country that will prevent many white Americans from voting for Mr. Obama ...

How perceptive. Especially since there are millions who openly exhibit distain for blacks.

" ... I frequently hear people who I thought were beyond racial negativity use the "N" word when speaking of him ...

It would appear that you are under the influence of MSM & political propagandists, that have declared racism dead.

Methinks many will get a wakeup call in November, (in spite of a very poor candidate on the other side) but not all will vote against obama just because of his percieved blackness. Millions will also vote against him because he is their enemy.

No. I couldn't disagree with you more, Hardastarboard. And I certainly won't flame you for being a liberal, not with such a clever Freepname (wish I had thought of it!) I just disagree. I would make the statement that if he becomes President, it will be BECAUSE he is black.

"...They're going to try to make you afraid of me...He's young and inexperienced and he's got a funny name. And did I mention he's black...

And note, he is going to play the race card (as in his statement above) as hard as he possibly can. He is a Marxist and a liberal. If he and Hillary did not have different sexes and different colors, they would be the same person. Barack Obama is every bit as underhanded, tainted and capable of evil as Hillary Clinton is, he just does not have the handicap of the screeching voice, icy eyes and frozen, fake, undisarming smile that Hillary does. But make no mistake...he is every bit as capable of shooting his opponents in the knees (I am speaking figuratively, but many will maintain it is not a figure of speech) or the head as Hillary Clinton is.

There are a number of people who WON'T vote for him because he is black, and there are a number of people who WILL vote for him because he is black.

Just as there are people who WOULD or WOULDN'T vote for Hillary because she is a woman, and people who would or would not vote for Lieberman because he is Jewish.

If there were a presidential candidate like the fictional David Palmer in the series "24", people would vote for him.

People are hesitant to vote for Obama NOT simply because he is black, but for the following reasons:

And, of course, for these as well:

And many understand this as well:

But most of all, for those who pay attention, it has everything to do with this:

Since being elected to the Senate in 1997, he has done even less than John Kerry, if that is even possible. Many of us happen to think that is a GOOD thing, given his politics, but it shows a politician more focused on sucking off of the government teat than it does someone who is serious about carrying out their responsibilities to their constituency.

However, the thing that disturbs me even more about his candidacy is the reflection of the attitudes of the electorate that it reveals. I work with a young guy, he is a very bright guy, very smart. In a lot of ways, much smarter than I am, even though I am 25 years his senior. But we had a discussion about politics one day, and it is clear that he will vote for Obama. I was struck mute as I stared at him, and asked him ruefully what it was that Obama had done that qualified him to be a candidate worthy of a vote. Do you know what his answer was?

"Nothing. He hasn't done anything at all."

I could only stare and shake my head. I was speechless. That was a positive thing in his opinion. What on earth could I say to him? And this guy is the brightest guy in his crowd, by far. He is the most mature, thoughtful and intelligent, hands down. And to hear him say that just cut my legs out from under me.

THAT is what I find most disturbing about the Obama candidacy.

My point here is that I am surprised that people still do that, what with all the political correctness and anti-discrimination laws and "Chief Diversity Officer" titles in corporate America.

" ... I frequently hear people who I thought were beyond racial negativity use the "N" word when speaking of him ...

I hear this from DEMOCRAT friends (hey, they're the ones who are NEVER racist, right?), and from some pretty sophisticated people who shock me when they use that word.

It would appear that you are under the influence of MSM & political propagandists, that have declared racism dead.

If anything, the MSM would label us all knuckle drooling racists. I can picture them standing and cheering at Obama's "bitter voters" comment.

I didn't say that. I'm Hardastarboard, not Keith Olbermann.

Exactly my thought as well. Marxist ideology is the enemy, not his skin color.
