NJ Police Harassment still active and Not Enforced - Nursing Mother Handcuffed, Hauled Away

Posted on 07/05/2008 8:16:57 AM PDT by citi7321

[Mod Note - poster claims this was her but somehow managed to confuse Lakewood, CO with Lakewood, NJ. The kittens, however, were not confused, and promptly straighened out jurisdiction] A nursing mother was separated from her baby, handcuffed, and abruptly taken to jail and now, the state patrol and the Lakewood Police Department are investigating. The mother told 7NEWS' John Ferrugia that she was terrified and humiliated by police mistakes. It all began when the woman and her husband were pulled over during a routine traffic stop. "I doubled up kids in the back seat in belts. So they were restrained, but not properly. But ... it was my fault for not having them in there properly," said father Ricky Archuleta. Ricky expected a ticket but was surprised when...

Is it standard procedure for Officers to climb into the vehicles with the women ?

Is it standard procedure to allow police officers here - to insist/cajole women into lifting there shirts off ? Why should one of your Officers be insisting on a woman to breast feed in front of them ? Isn't thos considered Sexual-Harassment ??

And what gives him the right to take and MANHANDLE my baby from me ?

Is this standard procedure for Police Officers in NJ ? Where is our Right-to-Privacy left ??

Also, should this officer be following me around ? Is it procedure that officers can follow people around - to wait for a little mistake, so they can get more attention from me ?

This is a public office that I need (and my family) needs to use sometimes. But I am afraid to do so now - because I am afraid of this officer harassing us again, and approaching us with other Weird requests. This is the second time that he has harassed us in this office.

I called the local Police - but they would not answer my questions about my Rights - they asked for my name and badge# of the officer then hung up on me (twice). How can I trust Internal Affairs ?

Now he has our address, while at the same time, he gave us his phone# 'so he can help us'.

I and we did not ask or want him to follow us. We did not choose to talk to him. After, his first approach to us in the office, we were afraid of him intentions, we tried to leave the office grounds quickly. But he followed us outside and detained us there also, then (we did not know) he followed us to our car, then detained us when we started the car to leave. How can we tell him to 'go away' - if he is a police officer ?

We never asked him to climb into our vehicle - and he never asked us - he simply climbed in to 'help us'. Isn't this considered an illegal Search without Warant ?

We asked him many times that we needed to leave to feed the baby at home, but he PERSISTED on keeping us there AND CLIMBING INTO our vehicle 3 different times (without asking us).

And what gives him the right to take and MANHANDLE my baby from me ? He did not even ask if he could. - He just took our baby... and I told him that he was hurting our baby ... but he did not care...

Is this normal procedure for NJ officers ??

How do we deal with this ??

keep a video camera VERY CLOSE and fully charged

Call the state

Call the feds

Call the newspaper

call the state attorney general

Call the usual suspects who love to rip into police. You have two things going for you: Women’s rights and secual harrassment. All things the press loves.

Call FOX news too

Darkwing
We found the source. Looks like a legit complaint but, like always, we like it when the community finds ‘the rest of the story’.

Do 6 months in jail and register as a sex offender, do 5 years of probation with a gps ankle braclet and you will be fine.

Well first of all Sparky, based on the article this has NOTHING to do with ‘NJ’ (New Jersey you are referring to?) so what’s up with that?

As another poster said, “did you join up today just to post this stuff?”

Welcome to FR.

IBTZ.

So, what does an incident in Colorado in 2005 have to do with this incident in NJ?

New Jersey is a police state. Gun owners have known this for many years.

You undoubtedly can’t trust Internal Affairs, not a bit, so it’s probably not even worth the effort to try.

Contact the FBI’s Civil Rights division. “Deprivation of Civil Rights Under Color of Law” is a federal crime.

http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cid/civilrights/civilrts.htm
http://www.fbi.gov/hq/cid/civilrights/color.htm

The FBI is the lead federal agency for investigating color of law abuses, which include acts carried out by government officials operating both within and beyond the limits of their lawful authority. Off-duty conduct may be covered if the perpetrator asserted his or her official status in some way.

During Fiscal Year 2005, the FBI investigated more than 1,100 color of law cases. Most of these crimes fall into five broad areas:

• excessive force;
• sexual assaults;
• false arrest and fabrication of evidence;
• deprivation of property; and
• failure to keep from harm.

Filing a Complaint

To file a color of law complaint, contact your local FBI office by telephone, in writing, or in person. The following information should be provided:

• all identifying information for the victim(s);
• as much identifying information as possible for the subject(s), including position, rank, and agency employed;
• date and time of incident;
• location of incident;
• names, addresses, and telephone numbers of any witness(es);
• a complete chronology of events; and
• any report numbers and charges with respect to the incident.

You may also contact the United States Attorney’s Office in your district or send a written complaint to:

Assistant Attorney General
Civil Rights Division
Criminal Section
950 Pennsylvania Avenue, Northwest
Washington, DC 20530

You may wind up the target of retributive actions from the police department, of course, which is just part and parcel of the rot pervading New Jersey government. But we’d be happy to welcome you here in New Hampshire - http://www.freestateproject.org/ - as political refugees.
