WASHINGTON, US - BARACK Obama will buck tradition and accept the Democratic presidential nomination in August at a 75,000 capacity football stadium, the party said on Monday, in what will likely be a spectacular photo-op.
The Illinois Senator's formal prime time speech is being switched to Invesco Field, home of the Denver Broncos American football franchise, from a smaller indoor hockey and basketball arena hosting the rest of the convention.
Mr Obama attracted massive and enthusiastic crowds during his victorious primary campaign against Hillary Clinton, and party officials said the new venue would again help fire up grass-roots activists countywide.
'The Democratic Party is nominating a true change candidate this August, and it is only fitting that we make some big changes in how we put on the Convention,' said Democratic National Committee chairman Howard Dean.
'Barack Obama's campaign for change has inspired millions of Americans and brought people into the political process who might never have been involved,' said Democratic convention co-chair Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius.
'This change in the convention program will allow thousands of first-time participants a chance to take part.'
'I can't think of a better convention finale for our nominee who has made reaching out to voters a hallmark of his campaign.'
Mr Obama's speech, on August 28, will be his most prominent chance to sell his vision of hope and change to Americans.
He will be aiming to upstage his own performance, at the Democratic convention in 2004, when as a virtual unknown, he shot to political prominence with an electrifying speech.
The Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado runs from August 25 to 28.

I’ve noticed recently that when he gets done speaking, he has a vanguard of young pretty white Dembosluts surround him and guard him from anyone getting close to him. Reminds me of how rock stars would pay young girls to scream and squeal for them in front of the cameras. Gotta wonder who’s payroll they’re on?

If it's half-filled, everybody will sit on one end, and the cameras will be oriented in that direction.

Maybe they will bring in a popular band to play before his speech, to make sure people show up.
Although since this is a Democratic convention, I’m sure they can find enough out-of-work people, or people like teachers and union workers who don’t mind calling in sick to take personal time.

There won't be a gaffe. If the media isn't satisfied, they will simply hype the number of attendees and then edit the photo to support the number(s).

I couldn't find the price for renting the entire facility. Parts of the stadium cost up to $20,000, so this should be well over $100,000 if they actually pay for it.

How will they be able to justify the energy use and cost, to light a stadium for an evening event like that? I thought this was supposed to be a green convention? Not to mention the added used of toilet paper, flushing toilets, etc.

Good point, but Obama says things which are extremely disturbing, and says them with no regard for a historic perspective. As this example:

Imagine a force of civilians with just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded as our military only beholden to Barak Obama and swears alliegence to him and not the Constitution.

If this doesn’t make him look even more arrogant than he looked yesterday I don’t know what would! Me thinks Teddy Kennedy is the puppetmaster here since JFK did the same thing in 1960 and we know how he longs for the good old days.
