Edwards would 'seriously consider' VP offer

John Edwards said Tuesday that if he were asked to accept the vice presidential slot or a cabinet position in a potential Barack Obama administration, he would “seriously consider” whatever the Illinois senator asked him to do.

It has been widely reported that the former North Carolina senator is on Obama’s vice presidential shortlist. On Tuesday, NPR interviewer Guy Raz called the former Democratic presidential candidate’s presence on the list an “open secret,” and asked Edwards whether he’d weigh accepting a vice presidential offer, or might take himself out of consideration as Virginia Senator Jim Webb had done Monday.

“I’m glad to hear that’s an open secret because I didn’t know it,” joked Edwards of his rumored consideration as Obama’s running mate

As VP, maybe he could also head a new Cabinet position in Obama's Universal Health Care scheme--- "Secretary of Ambulance-Chasing".

Oh please, oh please, oh please.

This horribly depressing election, with two of the worst candidates I’ve seen the two major political parties put up in my lifetime, could use some humor.

Bring back the “breck girl” and “silky pony” jokes!

Edwards would 'seriously consider' VP offer

Edwards would seriously consider an offer from the "Book of the Month Club".....he's lonely and he feels left out.

He'd take anything he can get.

Also, I'd like to add there is no way this is happening.

Obama is going to pick someone who oozes experience. Obama-Edwards would be assailed on experience.

It didn't do much to bring out Kerry's sparkling and vibrant personality.

Edwards could have the distinction -- if you can call it that -- of being the first person to run as VP candidate under two different Presidential nominees. And, for that matter, the first person to lose two VP elections.

One could say the same thing about Edwards as Gertrude Stein said about Oakland: There's no "there" there. Never before in U.S. political history has someone leveraged such a thin resume into two Presidential runs and a VP nomination. Let's not forget: Edwards was elected to the Senate on a fluke in 1998, and would have been defeated for reelection in 2004. So, what the heck, run for Prez. I'll never understand how he got as far as he did. But the road has come to an end.

I think Edwards would be a third choice.
Obama NEEDS someone with foreign policy creds, badly.
But, if he hasn’t gotten Hilary’s folks solidly behind him by convention, he may feel he needs to pick a woman.
Edwards might work out because he would take all the heat and people would stop looking as closely at Obama. It’s a long shot, but it might work.

That would be a delight. I still think Obama is going more for the vein of Richards but then again he may shock the world with a dud. Edwards provides too much material. He and John Kerry were ready made for comedy central.
