Obviously I have a problem. A South Carolina ditch dog adopted my kid over the winter and is now a happy member of the family. At 7 lbs, we and the vet think the dog is part Chihuahua and the other part Dachshund.

And yes, the dog does show a mite bit of aggression and fear, but not to the point that he breaks skin. He’s very protective of my kid, but is more wary of others.

He keeps the other dogs in line. :)

Nice picture!
My dog's mom was a Dalmatian!
Dad was a German short-haired pointer.
He's in great shape, but sits funny. He's 11 now and lives to play fetch.

Ridgebacks have killer instincts and are built to kill, but that doesn't make them mean.

That has to be the single most confusing sentence that I have read in quite a while. What would one have to do to qualify as "mean" in your book? Just wondering.

My sis and bro in law have a Wheaton Terrier. That dog is nasty and extremely aggressive. So are they.

They think every bit of trouble from the dog is ‘cute’.

Dachsies and terriors(sic) were both bred to go into badger setts after the badgers. For that job, quite a bit of aggression is a must. It also explains why they can be a little rough on the landscaping, too.

The funny thing about Doxies -or not funny depending on where you stand - is people call them ankle biters, but if mine are threatened or defending, they will jump for the crotch every time. :)

the Chihuahua. According to the newspaper, research found that the tiny breed often snaps at most beings it encounters — including its owners, strangers and other dogs.

This response is being typed quickly. My Chihuahua is looking and I’m afraid of what she might do if I tell the truth about her. Please help me!!!!! I’m a prisoner in my own home.

I have two Akita lab mixes, same litter. It’s funny, one looks all lab, and one looks all akita.

The lab is loud and happy go lucky, but barks like a nut and is obnoxious.

The akita’s got attitude, never barks, and is more than likely to guard the door with a low growl when someone goes by. He tore the top of his brothers head off one day (28 stitches) As far as he was concerned, the little rat deserved it.

You know, if someone broke in, my gut says they would both run or lick him to death. But they play the part great. That’s probably best. I don’t need any lawsuits, and since I’ve had them, no ones burgled my car in the driveway.

When I delivered papers as a teenager, I came to exactly your conclusion.

Dachshunds are nothing but ankle-seeking cruise missiles with teeth. I hate them with a passion.

I am convinced Gary Larsen was a dachshund owner-and he’s right, dachshies really do go for noses! Every dachshund I ever owned would do this one really weird thing : I’d have them cuddled on my lap, they’d be looking up at me-and then their eyes would get this freaky, glazed, unfocused appearance and they’d lunge straight at my nose! And oh, the attitude they’d get if a mere human dared chastise them for nipping at the nose. They never drew blood, but it was very startling, suddenly having 8-18 pounds of dog lunging for ones’ nose.

That dog means business!

Hercules: The World's Biggest Dog Ever According to Guinness World Records. Hercules was recently awarded the honorable distinction of World's Biggest Dog by Guinness World Records. Hercules is an English Mastiff who has a 38-inch neck and weighs 282 pounds. With "paws the size of softballs" (reports the Boston Herald), the three-year-old monster is far larger and heavier than his breed's standard 200lb. limit. Hercules' owner Mr. Flynn says that Hercules weight is natural and not induced by a bizarre diet: "I fed him normal food and he just "grew"... and grew and grew and grew.

“I informed her that my Lakie wasn’t afraid, but was trying to kill her dog.”

If they weighed 100 pounds they’d be against the law. His redeeming qualities are he’s a consummate clown when he’s not being a thug and he’s very loyal.

IN MY NEVER SO HUMBLE OPINION......!!!!!!........it is the OWNERS of ANY dog that makes or breaks it's aggressiveness.

I suppose if you beat the pit bull early and long enough...his jaws of steel and kill instinct might not ever show up. But I doubt it.

I always thought that our dachsies were actually trying to get into my nose!

Peculiar animals.

So it’s not just that I owned a bunch of weirdo weiners-other people’s dachshunds do the nose/lunge thing too. I find that oddly comforting.
