The National Children's Bureau, which receives £12 million a year, mainly from Government funded organisations, has issued guidance to play leaders and nursery teachers advising them to be alert for racist incidents among youngsters in their care. This could include a child of as young as three who says "yuk" in response to being served unfamiliar foreign food. The guidance by the NCB is designed to draw attention to potentially-racist attitudes in youngsters from a young age. It alerts playgroup leaders that even babies can not be ignored in the drive to root out prejudice as they can "recognise different people in their lives". The 366-page guide for staff in charge of pre-school children, called Young Children and Racial Justice, warns: "Racist incidents among children in early years settings tend to be around name-calling, casual thoughtless comments and peer group relationships." It advises nursery teachers to be on the alert for childish abuse such as: "blackie", "Pakis", "those people" or "they smell". The guide goes on to warn that children might also "react negatively to a culinary tradition other than their own by saying 'yuk'". Staff are told: "No racist incident should be ignored. When there is a clear racist incident, it is necessary to be specific in condemning the action." Warning that failing to pick children up on their racist attitudes could instil prejudice, the NCB adds that if children "reveal negative attitudes, the lack of censure may indicate to the child that there is nothing unacceptable about such attitudes". Nurseries are encouraged to report as many incidents as possible to their local council. The guide added: "Some people think that if a large number of racist incidents are reported, this will reflect badly on the institution. In fact, the opposite is the case."

This is a crock! I like spicy foods ... my stomach doesn’t. Toddlers are children and children will be children ... at some point they grow into young adults. If your a racist, it’s not due to spicy foods. Spicy foods cause other things.

In college, one of my buddies was a Pakastani national.
He gave me some Pak candy to try, so I tried it, and I remember saying something to the effect of “wow, this tastes like s#@$!”
There was no racism involved.

I would think so. But then I went around during the 60’s when “Black Power” was all the rage, I would sign yearbooks with, “Viking Power”. I find alot of today’s ideas about racism, racist against whites.

A Korean friend of mine said that as a kid in this country, he threw up the first time he saw a rare hamburger. He said the blood grossed him out. To each their own kimchi.

Those people who are pushing the idea that food preferences imply racism should be fired for gross incompetency. They should also probably schedule sessions with a psychiatrist to analyze and hopefully resolve their mental problems.
I guess I’ve been “racist” a lot longer than I have previously been told.
I despise Mexican food, not too hot for most Italian or French dishes. I won’t touch chitterlings but on the other hand I love fried okra, pork chops, fried chicken and watermelon.
On the plus side German, eastern european, brit, scottish and irish are great and almost all oriental dishes although I draw the line at steamed rice bugs and other insect dishes.
The real bottom line is that these morons can STUFF IT UP THEIR ARSES.

This is insanity. Kids don’t even notice race until moronic adults bring it to their attention. Some years back, I was talking to my nephew, who was probably about 6 at the time. He mentioned his good friend, and I asked him to tell me more about the friend. He told me his friend had really white teeth. White teeth—that was the complete and exact physical description he gave me of his friend. Turns out, his friend is black. LOL. Apparently my nephew never even took notice of his friend’s dark skin. You had to be there, but it was really funny at the time. He just kept saying “White teeth. He has really white teeth.” His mom had to clarify the matter for me.
