Contrary to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution headline, he didn’t actually say he was innocent. He said he had done nothing wrong. That’s not the same thing. According to an earlier story on this case, he confessed to killing his daughter, and explained that he had done it to cleanse his family’s honor. When he appeared before the judge, it is unlikely that he changed this story. He just said he didn’t do anything wrong. And by the lights of the Islamic culture from which he comes, which thinks that a father killing a daughter who has sullied his family’s honor is perfectly justified, he indeed hasn’t done anything wrong.

Get expert testimony from whatever local Islamic clergy as to whether these acts are consistent with Islam. Presumably, they’ll say “no”. Take judicial notice of that fact, and put him on the Beer & Bacon Diet.

He did nothing wrong....... if he did what he did in some muslim country... .but here in the US... it is called murder... I cannot justify killing someone based souly on my moral beliefs I would be thrown in jail

I saw something on TV the other day about honor killings . A Jordanian man who killed his sister, I believe, and got away with it, explained that a woman is like a ceramic plate. The plate is useful but if it falls to the ground and gets broken it is no longer useful and you have to get rid of it.
That’s a big assumption. They might say no publicly, but privately they will say it justified. They worship death, so killing a family member is sending them to Allah in repentence.
Or how about one set of laws for Muslims and another for the rest of us? After all, we Westerners need to respect other ways of life...

I remember having a professor in school that went on and on about the Hmong (Mong) immigrants in so cal. Their cultural practices offended her "progressive" sensibilities.
Islam puts little value on human life outside of it's rigid, brutal rules.
CAIR and the ACLU are going to partner to represent him, the Supreme Court will rule his religious rights were infringed on, the UN will demand that the death penalty not even be considered.. and he will get his prayer mat, food in keeping with his religious obligations and cell pointing to mecca.
Give him kosher food. Make sure it’s delivered with all the kosher seals in place.

I worked for the better part of a year in a predominately Hmong refugee camp in Thailand back in 1979-80, helping with the resettlement effort. Often, I would stay in the remote camp for a week at a time when we were interviewing families and preparing the immigration paperwork. I didn’t find them that weird, although I saw some interesting things. There were polygamists and opium smokers, of course. Saw a medicine man in a trance “ride” into the spirit world to bargain for the soul of a sick person. The bargain called for the sacrifice of an animal. They would eat the dead animal afterwards, as the bad spirits only wanted the animal’s spirit (practical people). It was cute to see young boys practicing the medicine man rituals. Tough people, the Hmong.

Actually, Muslims do eat Kosher food when their fare is not available.
My suggestion would be to let this animal starve for a couple of days, then place a tray of rotten bacon in front of him. If he does not eat, continue starving him until natural instincts take over. If he dies meanwhile, thank Darwin’s theory.

And once they get here the Hmong adapt quite well to the positive aspects of our culture from what I know.

Having served during Viet Nam and having been spit on in airports, I can assure you that most of us in this country, appreciate the sacrifices that have been made on our behalf—btw, the people that spit on me fell down in the airports, tragically...

My own experience was better, but we only had two brothers and they were both smart guys and didn't start any trouble. A few guys were getting rough with my friend Kou and his brother and when I told them to knock it off one said “My father fought in Viet Nam” and I replied “So did their dad, on OUR side, that is why they are here.”
I am reminded of the story of a British officer in India who came upon the scene of a Suttee, a Hindu rite where a live wife is burned upon the funeral pyre of her dead husband. Told that such practices were an “Indian tradition”, the officer responded that it was a British tradition to hang people who did such things. There is an applicable parallel here imo.

Well he can think that all he wants, it is the law here in the United States that tells him he did wrong, and for that he must pay.
Put the word out that he’s a ‘short eyes’, i.e. he molested his daughter before he killed her. Then let his fellow prisoners take care of things. (If he just goes in as a murderer, no one will care.)

That would not upset him. Muslims are instructed to eat kosher food if halal is unavailable.
The problem with that is that many Muslims in the US eat Kosher anyway, because the dietary laws are not that different.
